Lost of people have a girlfriend...
..very few people enjoy their job.
I think its much more important to choose a career based only on what you want. How would she like it if someone told her they couldnt be with her if she continued a career in music?
I do think it was mean of her to dump you right before prom though...
you probably don't want to date a girl like that anyhow...

 I agree with the other noter.
Any branch of military is an amazing dedication on your behalf and something to be PROUD of. She might have other issues, such as fear, etc, of you joining, but she should still be supportive.
If she is ending your relationship because of your career choice, it sounds like she wasn't that great of a catch anyways. You can and will find someone better than her, who isn't so superficial.

 random: that happens a lot here in school in orlando. esp. when i was in 10th grade. there was a girl who claimed she put a bomb in the bathroom. we was on lockdown for like the whole school day.
