Jealousy

11/05/2010

It's a curse.

That's the saying isn't it?
My husband thinks I read too much into things. Perhaps he's right lol but with this specific topic, I think I've right to be.

I was talking to my husband last night about kids and what would his parents think when we tell them we're having a baby (when I actually fall pregnant) and he seems to think that they will be estatic about it. I on the other hand, don't share this thought.

His brother's fiancee wants kids but he doesn't. I said to my dear husband last night..
"Babe, if G**** and S**** fall pregnant, your parents will be over the moon. I guarentee you that. If we do, I hardly think they will be ok with it given the circumstances" (being the bitching I've done recently). On this topic, I said hi to his mum on WoW yesterday and asked how she was. Her response? "Yeah good" so I said "That's good " but she didn't say anything back to me so I logged off.

When we spent a couple of weeks up at his parents place last year, we met his dad's cousin. They were talking about family and things and both of my husbands parents were going on about G**** & S**** having kids and they seemed so proud and everything. "They don't have kids yet but I think they will soon" you know, things along that line.

On another note as part of this topic.. I met my husbands grandfather in hospital last year for the first time. G**** hadn't met him yet. So anyway, my husbands father passed me a bunch of photos that they had sent them.. to see the family ect. There was 1 photo of me in there with my husband. ONE! G****???? Like 5 or 6! Yes, I was jealous. It added to my misery when while his dads cousin was staying, they took photos. Family photos... Not one of me. They didn't ask me to be in any of the photos. It's no wonder I'm losing respect. I'm treated like shit.

So anyway..

My husbands parents think more of their other daughter in law. They treat her like gold. Yes, she's more friendly than me.. ALOT more popular and whatever.. All I see is FAKE. Nobody can be as happy as her.. it's so clear that she's acting. My husband sees it too. (I think) Well, he at least knows that she's not perfect in the way she portrays herself. He sees straight through her. A couple of days before the wedding, his mum was showing her their wedding gifts they had stored away.. and laughing and joking with her. Everytime G**** and S**** are up there the same time as us... It's like I'm non existant. And my husbands dad? So affectionate with her. If her and S**** are fighting, he'll comfort her and make sure she's ok. If she's sick, he'll make sure she's alright. I don't get this treatment from his parents. If anything, I may as well be a dog who needs to sleep outside in the cold. When I'm around them.. that's exactly how I feel.

How long have you been together? I have only been with my boyfriend for a little over a year now, but you can imagine how impressed his parents were after I 'stole' him from his (ex)wife. I didn't think they liked me at all, and last year they sent out their annual Christmas card (they send cards to the whole family with the same letter inside all of them talking about the family updates of the past year) talking about how sad they were that my boyfriend and his ex had broken up, etc etc. Not a single word about me lol. So that kind of sealed the deal in my mind that they hated me and always would. It's still a little awkward, but they seem to like me a lot more now, and have even told my boyfriend that his ex 'wasn't right for him' and that we're 'a much better match'. Maybe your in-laws just need some time to get to know you?
