to the person that commented on my last entry...

but doesnt have the balls to post a name

first off let me say, thank you for taking an interest in my diary and my life.
im sure as you know, a lot of people are down on their luck right now. a lot of people cant pay bills, especially medical bills. but that doesnt mean the joy of having children should be ripped from them. i would not rely on the state or anyone else. i would make it with my wife like we always do. we always get through. but even if i did have to rely on the state for some thing, whats wrong with that?? thats what the programs were created for. and if the state says we qualify for the programs, then obviously they have no problem with it. i have been on food stamps twice, and i am not ashamed of that! i was out of a job and had to eat.
if you have never needed help with anything in your life, i applaud you! but if you have needed help, like all humans do at some point, would you have wanted someone to wish you well? or wish you harm and bad luck like you have done to me?
as far as my wife goes, i have not forced her into doing anything! she wants a child as much as i do. so im not really sure what you are talking about.
i cant help the way you feel, but i will not apologize for anything. we will continue trying to have a child of our own and if GOD wants to bless us with a child, thats up to him.
i really hope you are never put in a bad position as we are in. im afraid you would not be strong enough, as it seems you think life is all sunshine and no rain.
once again, i thank you for taking interest in my diary. have a great day honey!

I totally understand where you're coming from. My husband and I had to move in with my family due to medical bills and credit card debt. It sucks but like you said, everyone is down on their luck once in their lives. We have a 7 month old son and even though we knew we couldn't afford a baby at the time, we wouldn't change our decision. We weren't on state assistance or any type f govt programs. I have always been careful when it came to birth control too. He was our little surprise.

Gosh, you don't have to justify yourself to anonymous commenters! If they really wanted a conversation with you about it, they'd have signed their name. The fact they're anonymous means they're a coward, afraid to own their own words, so they can't really think their words are worth much.

Wow. This person is obviously too privileged to understand how the real world works. I've had a few of those kinds of people comment on my entries. Like you said, most everyone is struggling with bills. This random commenter doesn't know your finances or your personal situation. You could be struggling this month with added medical bills or like my husband and I will be debt free in a year (if nothing else happens) and we are only struggling right now.
If Mel doesn't have health insurance I do recommend her getting it before she gets pregnant if possible. I was reading about what it covers and even with my crappy insurance, it pays for itself times 3 during pregnancy.

This person will get what they've got coming to them when they learn the world is not all rainbows and butterflies and people shit roses.

All I can say is that this person is obviously someone who doesn't have a child, and doesn't understand that everyone needs help from time to time. Although, medical care is covered here under OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan). Even still, people shouldn't pass judgement if they don't know the whole situation. Ugh. I hate judgemental idiots like that.

I had to go read the comment... Personally, as a parent who has come across hard times after having a child (and loosing my job right before my daughter was born) I can't help but sort of wonder the same thing. Why are you and Melissa trying to have a child right now instead of waiting til you are more financially stable, or have money put away for unexpected expenses? Obviously, its none of my business, but I know that if we wouldnt have had savings when I lost my job when my daughter was born we would have been in big trouble. I had a perfectly normal pregnancy and the baby was 100% healthy litterally til the minute she was born when the DR inflicted injuries and now we are looking at medical bills potentially til she is 18. I have had to get on food and medical assistance, and there is no shame in it if you need it, but the programs like you said are for people who have come across hard times, I wouldnt really consider intentionally getting pregnany when you werent completely financially ready isnt really what 'falling on hard times' is. I mean, its your business as to why your deciding to have a child now, but aren't you worried about the 'what if's'? I know personally right now I am scared for anything else to come our way, I don't want my kids to have to suffer the consequences of my hard times. As it is now, I am relying on medical insurance that doesn't always cover the best doctors like my insurance from work did, I have had to put a hold on putting money away for my kids savings, and to save money I have been staying home and not taking my son out to go do a bunch of stuff (like the aquarium, zoo, putting him in a playgroup or preschool, because all of that stuff costs money that we dont have). Its hard being a parent, and its harder when your struggling financially. I am not trying to be rude at all with this so I hope you dont take it that way.

Mommy2Brycen+1: i agree with you 100%. things in life are worth waiting for. having a baby with no savings and no immediate plan to care for it and provide it with things really is irresponsible, and kind of immature. sure, nobody is ever fully "ready" to have a baby...it'll never be the perfect time...but wouldn't you want to wait until you can provide the child with all the things it deserves? the government programs are for people who are on hard times, but it's not something to strive towards. babies are astronomically expensive. i work at a maternity home for homeless women. the welfare system is not a way of life.

I guess what matters most is that the baby will be loved

I would have been way more hot headed than you lol.. This entry was VERY well spoken and I agree with you 100%. Times are tough right now for EVERYONE, but that shouldn't stop you from getting what you want in life. Things won't always be this way.
