Blessings, Boasts and Thoughts (January 6th, 2009)

01/07/2009

Blessings
"The three foundations of learning: Seeing much, suffering much, and studying much." -- Catherall

The things you’re grateful to have
- Friends, even (especially?) the ones who mock me
- Anywhere to be tomorrow
- Shiny new prescription for perc
- A home
- Internet
- Food
- Welfare
- Hot water for baths

The things you’re grateful NOT to have
- No idea what's going on in my class
- A bastard of a teacher
- To have to walk to class
- My entire face covered with zits

Boasts
How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." -- Anne Frank

- I got out of the house
- I'm making soup
- I did good at my class I think
- I got my meds
- I remembered to take my drug card and money
- I booked my doctor's appointment
- I didn't let my huge to-do list get to me and took it easy
- I am working really really hard to keep my emotional reactions under control
- Including guilt

Thoughts
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

1. The things you didn’t accomplish today
Still haven't gotten to the bank. You know, that's really about it, in terms of what I needed to get done.

2. Think about one of your fears
I'm really afraid at how fragmented my brain is getting.

3. Think of a way to face that fear
I should eat better, restock my non-prescription meds and actually take them. I should go to sleep at a more consistent time, even if that will end up with me even more alone probably. If the bus strike would just end... having something to make me feel productive would help a lot...

4. One new thing you’d like to do
See floor in the Lair-brary? *laugh*

5. What you don’t like about yourself
I'm too wretched negative.

6. How you can change what you don’t like about yourself
Smile, even when you don't want to. Keep your mouth shut and think before you start talking. Keep doing these lists, because you sound positive even when you don't feel it, and maybe it'll rub off.

7. Your greatest qualities
I'm focused. I'm stubborn. I'm silly. I'm actually not a bad conversationalist when I let myself. I'm passionate, when I let myself be. I'm beautiful underneath it all. *quirk*

8. What the future holds
A snow storm. More classes. Winterlude. Disability processing. My doctor's appointment where I'm going to talk to him about possibly switching pain meds and also about getting a referral to a psych...

9. Your life goals
I want to be proper. I want to be a lady. I want to openly communicate without oversharing. I want a completely transparent life. I want a home. I want to help. I want to inspire. I want to nurture. I want to be able to look myself in the mirror.

10. You only have one life
Thank god.
