Appeasing Family

In order to appease my Father's family, I have decided to make a concerted effort to learn Cherokee. In order to appease my Mother's family, the first thing I am attempting to learn, is the Lord's Prayer. I must say....I am enjoying the process thus far. The sounds of it is...borderline impossible for me to get right, but, I figure maybe I'll start by learning the syllabary to write using it, and maybe it will be easier that way. I have a feeling my attempt to appease Dad's family, will be quite in vain...I'm never going to be what they want, they've always said I was a mistake, a let down - even going so far as to say I'm not his. But, the one thing my Dad always wanted, was for his family to accept me as he did. So, I'm making an attempt. I'm showing interest and effort towards something that has been significant to them. If it's not good enough, then so be it. But at least I can say I tried. It's not my fault that my Dad couldn't stay out of prison long enough to raise me like they wanted to. It's not my fault that he signed away his legal rights to have a say so in what I was taught. It's not my fault that when he went to prison, they turned their backs on having anything to do with me. So, if my attempts now, aren't good enough for them...then so be it. Honestly, I don't know why it matters so much to me now that they accept me, but it's something I would absolutely die for....Is it really so much to ask your family to love you? The Lord's Prayer

It's not a song, it's a prayer...
