 It's me versus the wife's computer.
I've fought it to a standstill, but there's no clear victor.
It seems a nasty little virus attacked, and when she'd run all the softwares for getting rid of such things, her computer would log off immediately and automatically after logging in.
The file structure was still there. I could access it with a Linux distro I have on a Jump Drive.
I eventually ran a repair from the XP source disk, but for some reason, I can't get it to perform a Windows update.
I stayed up 'til 3am on this, and tried a little more this morning. Still no updating going on, but I do have some ideas on what to try tonight.
You might think this was me on the way to victory; however, because I need to have something written up by Friday, and it requires my full concentration, I have fallen a day behind. So, it's been a draw.
I will win, but I may also lose. And that really sucks.
