Life is full of words, but they use stones to make fountains.
Words never built statues. Words never moved mountains.
Words can hum around like bees, flitting around the flowers.
Words can sting like a dagger, and just one will hurt for hours.
Words can lift us up, words can drag us down.
Words take a man’s life, and give another a crown.
Words like monarchs, words like flies.
Words forming truth, words forming lies.
Truth drew us closer, lies tore us apart.
Truth healed our wounds, and lies broke my heart.
A fragile thing, I know, but one that I held dead.
Now inside there’s something odd, a single crystal tear.
A tear I’ll keep, for a time short or long,
Until you’re gone forever, and I can no longer hear the song.
A song of true love, love God gave me for you
Whether you want it, whether or not you feel it too.
