the ups and downs

budget??

09/22/2010

I just updated my debt ticker, and I'm glad to see my totals are shrinking. I'm $2000 less than the last time I figured! We're finally making extra payments instead of just paying the minimums or only a little more than the minimums. The new budget helps that, but having a limited amount of spending money in a month has been difficult. We had to make two out of town trips and had to buy three new tires. That was a fun time. We bought two new ones because they were worn and we clearly needed new ones, especially with all the driving we were doing. The NEXT DAY, there was a nail in the side panel of one of the new tires. It was not patchable, and guess who didn't "splurge" for road hazard? So we bought yet another tire, including road hazard. Won't make that mistake again. So we've definitely gone over budget, but I'm hoping that with watching my grocery shopping a little better and putting more variety into our meals, I'll spend less at the grocery store.

Do any of you have any ideas for easy, frugal meals? I've tried to do meatless meals, but hubby won't let me get away with that. LOL.

ive been doing alot of spagetti and rice with eggs. or just rice. Weve managed to do meatless meals for some but not all of the week. Its all about compromising. It also helps if you get frozen meals and mix their meats with whatever ur cooking so he has his meat.
