Why do girls start shit?

OK - so I have this friend on facebook who posted a status about how she was just pretty much giving up on saying anything because every time that she would say something it would get twisted around and then get back to someone who would take it the wrong way and then come calling her out like she had said something terrible when in fact the original story was innocent.

Some other girl had commented saying something about i guess an argument they had earlier..I'm not sure since it wasn't my fight but whatever. So I leave a comment saying how I've tried to keep my mouth shut before and it never worked because whether or not you keep your mouth close, if people want to talk, they will find something - anything - to talk about. It doesn't even have to come out of your mouth at all! Well this other girl replies to my comment telling me how I need to mind my own business and that she was being a friend because she went to my friend first (?). I was like, whatever! I'm not in this! My comment was generalized and if you really wanted to get specific, I was aiming it towards my friends because none of them are friends with her so they would never see it (I guess in some way it may shield me from criticizing from others which didn't work out too well thanks to this other girl). And then I said something like you obviously feel guilty about something since you're taking my generic comment to heart and she said she wasn't guilty about anything because she didn't do anything wrong. Suuuuurrrree. Whatever makes you sleep at night! I didn't say anything back to her. I just let my friend know that I was sorry I caused drama, because I definitely didn't mean to.

But the nerve of that girl! To call me out on something I didn't even say! Yes, if you want to read between the lines and take everything everyone says to heart because somehow it's all about you, then sure it was directed at her. But from where I stand, because I'm the author, it was meant for everyone, friend or foe. Everyone has to have friends and I know as girls, we have all gone through being talked about behind our backs. It happens. But it's nothing to get so upset about! I don't even know this girl and she's ready to stick a knife in my back!

I think this is why I never really hung out with girls when I was younger. Too much drama!
