FIN FIN FIN FIN

02/05/2016

Eric and I had the moving discussion again last night. We're in a unique situation. If we stay here, we're comfortable. My work is steady and the paychecks are not too far under livable, his paychecks are large and there's a lot of work, but it's very boring work. Small homes abound in this area and with them small jobs, backsplashes, small bathrooms, etc and he can do so much more. So we've discussed moving before, specifically to Connecticut, but we wound up not pursuing that because life got busy. I'm not opposed to moving, but it is extremely nice to be able to throw Darby in the car and go visit my parents, and his parents. They're about 1 mile away from us where we are now, on either side. Moving would eliminate that, and I would be homesick for my family.

But, if they're more money in it, why wouldn't we? So we've resolved to really start looking around. We want to go visit a few places around the country, talk to some of Eric's friends in the industry in these places that can give us a good idea of what kind of paychecks he would be looking at.

We're going to Colorado in June for a week, his brother is getting married so we decided to actually go a day before anyone else arrives and meet with some of his friends in Denver. After that we're planning on visiting Salt Lake City, a lot of New England, some places in Jersey and even, FIN ARE YOU FUCKING READY

ARE YOU READY FIN

FIN

FIN ARE YOU READY

SEATTLE AND PORTLAND.

I FUCKIN KNOW.

Apparently the work in all of these places is just about exploding, opportunity abounds. So, being that the associates degree i'm working on is applicable basically anywhere, we're more focused on where Eric can make the most money.

We need to make the decision soon. Very soon. Because we're getting to a point where we might consider building the big house on the property, and if we do that, then we have to sell this property in order to move, we'd never be able to afford the taxes on top of another place. But, if we leave BEFORE we build the big house, we can keep this place, and always be able to come back whenever we want. Eventually we'll sell, that's for certain. I also made it clear that wherever we go, whatever we do, we need to be in a position where we have enough money that if i all of a sudden get a heartsick pang to go home, i need to be able to throw together a bag and shoot to the airport and hop on a plane. I will never move unless my options of returning home on a whim are wide open, period. He agreed and said the same, he needs to be able to not worry about the cost of a plane ticket home, ever.

So we're considering taking road trips this spring around New England and Jersey. Jersey is the most iffy one for me. Western Jersey has some really nice parts but there's so many shitty parts of Jersey too. We'll see. I'm not opposed to New England, and definitely not opposed to Colorado but I doubt we'll be able to afford it. WE'LL SEE.
