we offered (in competition) yesterday, with offers being presented at 7:30. they were irrevocable until 11 pm.
i sat around with knots in my stomach till about 9 when our realtor called, saying that the sellers were "all worked up" and wanted more time to decide. we agreed to give them another day.
the sellers were to meet with their agent again tonight at 7:30. around 8:30, our realtor called.
these LUNATICS didn't accept our offer OR the other offer. they were "too stressed" about the whole thing, and took their house off the market. what the fuck?! who does that?! they tried to sell it for almost 3 months, then get 2 offers (both of which were surely higher than they'd have been were we not competing), and walk away?! i am baffled! our realtor is baffled. the sellers' agent is baffled. it makes no fucking sense and these people are insane.
i'm gutted, really, that we didn't get this house. it was perfect for us and i could absolutely see us living there. that said, if they're actually nutbars, i'm glad that we're not dealing with them, especially considering that some of the terms of our offer stated that they had to finish some renos they had started. if they're difficult to deal with when i'm trying to give them hundreds of thousands of dollars, i can only imagine the fuckery that could take place if they didn't do the renovations properly.
sigh. i'm so sad and disappointed. i know that it was our first offer, and everything seemed to come up so fast, and that we've only seen a handful of houses, but that one just felt right, not to mention that we're sort of under a time constraint.
our realtor is still looking, and is really digging to see if there's anything new or about to come on the market that would work for us. i know that the right house will come along... i'm just sad this one wasn't it.
thank you to anyone who thought about us, prayed for us, crossed their fingers, anything. i really appreciate the support, guys.

I'm sorry that you didn't get a real opportunity at the house, but let's just say that it is a blessing in disguise.

They sound like absolute lunatics. Stupid, if you ask me.

I really hope you guys find something even better and it works out for you! =)

I'm sorry, Ange! I understand the disappointment. Hopefully this just means that the next house you put an offer on will be even better...and really the right one!

I'm so sorry this was such a disappointment! Durn crazies and their perfect house.

I'm really sorry it didn't work out. Equally though they do not sound like the kind of people you want to be doing business with. Also better it all falls through now than further down the line. Still not nice for you though

that's terrible. i'm sorry you had to wait around all that time to find out they backed out. i hope you find something else that is more appealing.
