Anyone have any ideas for names of a childcare center?

I actually love that name lol.

Interesting! What kind of ideals will it promote? For example, where I work it is called The Natural Childcare Company, because they don't feed them any sweets or crap (unless it's someone's birthday lol) and they really interest them in nature.
So maybe you could think of a name along certain lines; what will set that childcare company apart from all the others? |

It will be a very loving place. There will be a lot of learning here, not just a bunch of unstructured play. There will be virtually no TV. All the food served is going to be healthy. I will transport children to schools if needed. I am still in the process of figuring out all my guide lines.

Sounds good to me! I am useless on names though lol.

virtually no tv??? what daycare lets kids sit in front of tv?

Actually many in home daycares do, that is a huge problem especially in this state, which is why mine is going to be very different.

I agree

I used to work at a daycare, and at the end of the night when all the kids were going home, we'd set them up with a movie and start cleaning. The last half-hour or so. It gives the kids something to do while they are waiting for their parents.

but surely a daycare would have enough toys and stuff, which will help their learning, rather than sticking them in front of a tv... I don't mean to get this thread off topic, but that just seems silly to me. Parents don't pay for their kids to be in front of a tv

I get that. And you're right. But having them play with toys while you're trying to clean is so redundant it isn't funny. When you've still got 30 or so kids within the last half hour, there is too much cleaning for too little people, so movies help settle things down for the night.
Not saying it's right or wrong, but it helps. |

I wont argue with that, its why parents stick their kids in front of the tv! lol I'm just saying that there are probably better ways to manage it. I work in childcare too.. and we don't have a tv, and don't need one

i also worked at a daycare, and we did the same thing. they were only allowed to watch 30 min of tv tho. so, if we werent done cleaning, the tv was shut off anyways, and they were to play with toys. they also could only watch educational videos. ex: counting, colors, numbers, etc.

Maybe think of something that made you happy as a child. And/or something that conjures up a visual image in one's mind, e.g. 'Sunny Lane Daycare' xD

HAHAHA. Just out of curiosity, I wiki'd 'Sunny Lane' and, of course, much to my amusement, it links me to an article about a porn star/nude model/actress.
And there I was, trying to come up with something appropriately cute and bright and cheerful! |

Unstructured play is pretty good for kindy-aged kids, from what I've read.
|

Unstructured play is good, but so is structure, like arts and crafts, learning shapes and letters. If all you do is allow them to play they may learn somethings, but not everything, and structure helps them get ready for school.

I agree. A lot of kids get unstructured play at home, and daycare is usually more structured with the activities.
I like "The Kindy Garden", personally. |

Must admit, when I said "from what I've read" I should have also mentioned that the reading I was referring to was specifically about a particular therapy approach for children with Autism called DIR/floortime. So, yeah, not really sure what they do with neurotypical kids in daycare.

Whatever name you choose, make sure to run it through the trademark and copyright search (you can google it and it'll be a govt. website) to make sure it isn't taken. Also, when you register for your childcare license, you can ask to check your name in their database for others.
