Attention moms! Can we have your attention please? To everyone who likes to brag about giving birth to 8, 9, even 10-lb. babies, we advise you keep quiet around Ani from Indonesia. The woman recently delivered a 19.2-lb. bruiser, the heaviest newborn ever recorded in the country.

Ani's epic delivery scored a lot of attention in the Search box. After the "Today" show ran a segment and Al Roker and Matt Lauer made some lighthearted jokes, lookups on "19 pound baby," "indonesian baby," and "heaviest baby ever" all spiked immediately.

And pictures? Oh my, the baby's pictures were also hugely popular. Queries for "19 pound baby photos" jumped from nil into the thousands, and photos within Yahoo! News are drawing big clicks. Not surprisingly, the baby is said to require "near constant feeding."

For those wondering if this baby boy (as of yet unnamed, but we suggest "Hulk") is the heaviest newborn in history, the answer is no. The record belongs to an American infant born in 1879. He weighed 23 pounds, 12 ounces. Sadly, he died a few hours after being born. An ABC station reports that the heaviest baby to survive weighed 22 lbs., 8 ounces. We sure hope the big guy was always extra-nice to his mother.

My six month old son only weighs 22lb! That must have been one uncomfortable pregnancy!

The woman actually had a form of diabetes which caused the baby to get that big.

"When a diabetic mother's glucose level is high during pregnancy, the baby can receive too much glucose and grow too large, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists."

I just can't imagine a newborn that big!

Apparantly the mother was diabetic and her glucose levels jumped during pregnancy, making her baby bigger. Whether it'a the truth or not I'm not sure, my mobile news tends to change it's story at times.

yeah probably since i know a lot of times even 11lb baby is pushing it for a vaginal birth.

What would have happened in ye olde times before c-sections? Anyone know? Were they just left to die? I often wonder this haha.

I believe they did c-sections back then as well.
Obviously not as safely, but I'm pretty sure they existed. :(

My great aunt died in childbirth in the 50s so when my mom went in to have me apparently my grandpa was terrified lol bless!

My friend's baby was 11lb and half an ounce, and she didn't tear. She did haemorrhage though.

The mother had gestational diabetes that was not controlled during her pregnancy. Therefore the baby received WAY too much glucose, which is the cause of his weight. Apparently, according to the Today show, he is in great health though. Which is great. They did say even w/ a c-section, delivery was very hard. He was so big they had to really work to get him out of the womb.

depending on the country, i don't think doctors could give c-sections. I mean, think about it, considering how long we've had medical advisors, not until recent history were they even allowed to gain bodily knowledge by dissecting dead people. They could tell if a woman was pregnant and could do small favors such as delivery and baby position, but back then, it was considered defilement to cut a body open. So if there were complications with pregnancy or birth, then yeah, mother/child/both would die.

Wow! Even my childrens birth weights combined is only 10lb 10oz lol!!

Gees! Poor woman... it would make her feel like she missed out on her baby truly being a little baby!

Can you imagine walking around CARRYING a nearly 20 pound baby during the final stages of pregnancy? YEESH!
