i'd kick her out. who needs the stress?
but that's just me. i'm very anti stress, and if she didn't have time to get the alterations done (which at 16 days seems most important, who knows how many days that will take, and if it will fit right after the first time) i'd tell her i don't have time to deal with her shit.

Tell her if she can't have it done by the end of this week, she's out. So one of his guys will be exiting alone. Not a big deal. It happens all the time.

you can have one guy walk alone. no biggie. a lot of the time the men don't even walk down. they just escort the guests to their seats, then stand and wait for the groom. maybe you could do that?

Let me make this suggestion; you dont have to have the same amount of women and men. In my wedding they will all walk down seperately. Sounds weird, but it's a modern thing and hey, if you have to do it you have to do it.

I wouldn't put up with that shit.
To me, she's not a very good friend if she said she'll be in the wedding and won't even make an attempt to do it.
You shouldn't have to poke and prod her to get her to follow suit. She said she'd do it.
A good friend wouldn't make you stress like this, IMO.

They're supposed to HELP you, not add to it.

I had a cousin like that in my wedding. What'd I do? Cut her out completely. Didn't need someone like that! For a while we had a single groomsman that didn't have a bridesmaid, but then a groomsman ending up dropping out too, so it evened out. But I wouldn't put up with that crap. If she's doing this now, how is she going to act on your day? Be late? Almost not show up at all? You don't want to have to babysit on your wedding day and there are single groomsman/bridesmaids walking in/out not as couples alllllll the time!

I had two groomsmen and 4 bridesmaids. It didn't matter to me how uneven or whatever it looked. You can manage without her. That or just tell her if she doesn't get sorted, she's out. A sharp shock might help!

Maybe explain the urgency to her ;) Call the shop and see how long they'll have her dress before the alterations are done and go ahead and drag her right on in!

I have to agree with everyone else tell her she has til a certain day or she's out and either one of his guys can walk alone. We didn't have an even number which we had 5 girls and 4 guys so what we did was put my brother as his last guy and his 2 sisters were the last girls and my brother walked them both out had one each side. Everyone got a kick out of it they were all laughing. My brothers face was priceless lol he had an ear to ear grin and was blushing.

How is she too busy when you're the one getting married? I think that if she wants to be in the wedding she would MAKE the time to get it altered no matter how close it is or not. :| Oy.

I would tell her she needs to get her dress altered and order the shoes asap. I wouldn't take excuses. How hard is it to get shoes? It takes what . . . 30 mins to get a dress altered? I'm sure she can make time out of her busy day. They are excuses. If she doesn't, then kick her out. You can have an odd number of bridesmaids and groomsmen. It's your wedding!

something amazing.

This is why I told my bridesmaids to wear a short length black dress and was done with it. lol. No worrying about them getting matching dresses (considering they all live in different states) and no worrying about them dragging ass. The truth is, your wedding is only important to you and your husband to be. Sure you THINK your friends are happy for you two, and they are... but not happy enough to drop everything to do what you want. You really should just say to her, "Hey, maybe you're too busy to be a bridesmaid, and so I'm going to let you off the hook". Then, you can have one of his groomsmen escort your grandmas or your moms down the aisle. I don't think you need even numbers. My fiance has his best man and that's it and I have 3 bridesmaids. His best man and my maid of honor will walk down the aisle and then our ring bearer is going to walk my two other bridesmaids down the aisle. Easily worked out. :)
