I had a look online, and Dobby WILL be in Deathly Hallows!
From mugglenet back in January: "The Telegraph is reporting today that Toby Jones will return to voice Dobby the House-Elf in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The article notes that "he'll soon be back in the recording studio for the next Harry Potter." This is great news considering we last saw Dobby all the way back in Chamber of Secrets. Filming for the final installment in the series begins this February." |

I'm not going until next week. Don't feel like standing in long lines to see a movie, lol.

It was terrible. it was like they took the first half of the book and made a Twilight movie, and the second half of the book and just took a horrendous raging poo on it.

Out of interest, what specifically didn't you like?
I thought it was really good, and pretty close to the book. |

Neville says nothing, there's no funeral, the "that's right, I'm the half blood prince" had NO explanations attached to it, Harry had NO interest in who the half blood prince was, and all of the real plot scenes seemed to be about 5-10 minutes long whereas all of the "omgsnogging" bits took up most of the movie.

The funeral would have been nice... but I don't think it was absolutely necessary for completeness of the movie. And it was already 2.5 hours long... they really couldn't include everything. The movie has to appeal to book fans AND people who haven't read the books. I don't think people who hadn't read the books would have wanted a 3 hour film just so they could see Dumbledore's funeral.
I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more Neville... but he really doesn't feature in the book that much either. And I do think it was important to have this movie be slightly more lighthearted (all the teenage crush stuff), since the last one is going to be so dark. Again, more for the benefit of people who haven't read the books, and to keep them interested. I didn't notice any significant plot scenes being shorter than in the book... |

It was 2.5 hours long because it was a micro-twilight. I understand trying to make the non-book readers happy, but it was just awkward for me, a 25 year old person, watching a bunch of teenagers snogging for a couple hours. haha
I doubt the last movie will be as dark as the book. I'm betting the last fight scene will be no longer than 5-7 minutes. |

aw man...please don't say that. Twilight is so awful, it was not nearly that bad! :-P
Thank God Harry didn't think he had to jump off a cliff hearing Ginny's voice in his head! ;-D |

I dunno. It is going to be two separate movies. Maybe they won't cut too much? Then again...with how much is cut in the OTHER movies, they might HAVE to cut some just so those who didn't read the books aren't totally confused.

I'm 27. And I didn't feel uncomfortable (because I do remember what it was like to be that age). All that teenage snogging stuff was in the book! There was A LOT of pages in the book about love potions, about Hermione and Ron, about Harry and Ginny (especially about his feelings for her). Because they're teenagers. It would be strange if they're wasn't some romance (and snogging!) going on. And anyway, it was in the book! So if you didn't like it, blame JK, not the movie makers.
It was nothing like Twilight. Twilight is awful. And the reason it's awful is because Edward is ALL that Bella cares about. She's 17 and prepared to give up here ENTIRE life for a boy! Her whole world revolves around him, and that's sad enough in itself... but what is even more sad is that teenage girls want to BE just like her! She is NOT a good role model. The characters in Harry Potter have far more going on than just falling in love with each other (and the romance was far more lighthearted than in Twilight where, like Lauren said, the lead female character wants only to kill herself for the sake of a boy!)... but it wouldn't be right to suggest that, as teenagers, they have no interest in the opposite sex at all. |

I think Twilight is an okay movie and book but I do agree with you. Bella is not a good role model. She is wasting her time in a small rainy time thinking about only one thing...Edward.

The Twilight books were miserable in places because of exactly what you're saying.
What happens in Twilight: 1) Bella dotes over Edward. 2) Jacob dotes over Bella. 3) Edward laments CONSTANTLY. There is no depth. Not really. It isn't even a fight against good and evil so much as 'star-crossed obsession'. The fact that so many girls want an Edward type is silly. He's a Hallmark card wrapped in 'stone'. Exciting. HP had much more going on. There are layers and layers in the books surpassing teen romance. When they do cover the characters enjoying each other it isn't all-consuming. It's much more natural and in a way more mature by the blinders of infatuation and obsession. |

I read an interview with the director, and he said the fight scene would probably be at least 30 minutes long. They haven't filmed it yet, though.

I just got back from seeing the movie, but I think I'll go see it again. I was with a whole bunch of my friends and they were like goofing off and being loud so I couldn't really enjoy it or pay attention. But what I did see, I loved! Even though the ending was kind of blah. Like, I expected more fights and stuff. All of the action was in the trailer, ya know? And ps; I totally wish hermione and harry were together. i dont like ginny at all!

Definitely my favourite one so far. In fact the only one that I watched all the way through without getting bored.
I loved the Shakespearean themes, yo! Though I still think Ginny is as flat and wet as a marsh. Potter could do so much better! |

I saw it Sunday and was a tad disappointed. There were parts that just dragged and I seriously had a hard time staying awake! I've loved every book and every movie up until now. So, hopefully, the final 2 movies will fare better than this one!

I saw it loved it & was irritated with it. Though I think that is because I was stupid enough to re-read the 6th yr before going to see it. I saw it on the 15th & I swear to you the top half of the room was not crowded & no one was sitting in the seats closer to the screen. Granted it's the middle of nowhere at 830 at night. But I so want to go again & can't wait to buy it on DVD. Did anyone else get freaked out when the hand came out & grabbed Harry? I kept telling myself "it's going to happen don't jump. it's going to happen don't jump" & right when it happened I jumped & shouted "JESUS!" & the whole theater laughed at me & I started laughing too. I think I'm what scared the little boy in front of me. I felt so bad yet I think I helped lighten the mood. :D

I did the exact same thing. I KNEW it was going to happen and I still jumped right off my seat!
I'm hoping my second viewing will be at the Imax. |

LOL yeah the guy behind me started busting up laughing. He was the first to laugh at me.
Yeah I'm hoping to see it in IMAX too. But I think I'll go with my hard core Harry fan instead of my movie buddy cus she's not that into it. |
