Not putting him on a ventilator with no pulse (obviously)! That would be impossible (although we do have drugs that increase the contractility of the heart to keep it pumping). I meant if the cpr had been successful and they'd got a pulse BACK they'd then have put him on a ventilator. (I work in intensive care)

I worked in ICU for a while, but couldn't handle the pediatric's.. not being a mother with 2 kids and seeing children my kiddo's ages dying and as ill as they were. I come from a family of paramedics/EMT's and nurses.. from the EMS aspect of it all, there are certian criteria that have to be met when responding to a scene and such for them to so much as start with advanced life support when someone is found unconcious and the time of unconciousness is unknown. It's an automatic "don't start" if they have began to enter rigger, if they are decapatated or have a gunshot wound to the head.

We don't do paeds. We only have an adult ICU. I've worked in NICU (briefly) but never a PICU.

Sky News have said that the LA Times have confirmed that he's dead... I am more prone to believe them over a gossip site. Oh God. This is just crazy. What a bastard shame.

LA times confirms it. Doesnt suprise me. A few months back they only gave him 6 months to live which is why he set up the tour in the first place.

How do you figure they only gave him a few months to live? He just passed an EXTENSIVE medical review and physical in March stating he was in perfect health and could do the tour.

Jackson was rushed to a hospital this afternoon by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home around 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The parademics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told The Times.

The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.

In May, The Times reported that Jackson had rented the Bel Air residence and was rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London's O2 Arena. Jackson had won the backing of two billionaires to get the so-called "King of Pop" back on stage.

His backers envision the shows at AEG's O2 as an audition for a career rebirth that could ultimately encompass a three-year world tour, a new album, movies, a Graceland-like museum, musical revues in Las Vegas and Macau, and even a "Thriller" casino. Such a rebound could wipe out Jackson's massive debt.

OK i take that back they are announcing the LA times are reporting his death but CNN isnt confirming yet.

ESPECIALLY when taking into consideration who even the RELIABLE news sources are getting their information from...TMZ. Sorry, but because TMZ was the first to report, and all other news sources have gotten their information from TMZ, the only thing that is going to convince me he's really dead is if his family makes a statement. Until we get direct quotes from his family and NOT TMZ, I'm not likely going to believe it.

I know he's dead. I just watched multiple "breaking news" reports, one of which FIRST stated that it is unknown. THEN about 2 minutes later said it is confirmed that he has passed away.

SOME PEOPLE have trouble believing this because all the news sources are getting their information from TMZ, not actually reporting it themselves. If those news sources actually got up and reported on something other than something someone else said, it might be more believable.

It was pretty obvious that something was seriously wrong very early on. I mean when news first broke - TMZ were reporting it - but for that to be enough to make world news (I'm in Australia) they would have had to have been sure that something WAS wrong.

And for the last hour (on the Australian Morning show sunrise) they have had Nothing else on the news OTHER THAN him being "reported dead" I don't think they would make such a bold statement if they didn't know it had already happened - or was imminent. It would leave too much at risk..what would they have done tommorrow? "Whoops, our bad, he's really ok"? Yeh I don't think they'd take a risk like that.

It's sad. Both he and Farrah Fawcett all within 24 hours. So So sad. He made such an impact on the music world.

That is not even funny. He lost his life. He was someones father, someones brother, and someones son. I mean if you dont like him thats great for you but have some damn respect for the people who are heartbroken by this tragedy. I cant even believe you are trying to be funny and make jokes.

I think it is pretty sad that people are heart broken that a complete stranger may be dead, especially a peado stranger!

Its not the fact that he is a stranger he helped SHAPE music, just like Elvis. If you dont like him, thats perfect and dandy and your choice, hell I think he probably was a pedophile as well but the point is he is fucking dead. Thats the point. Show some respect.
