I have been told I am lactose intolerant and need to cut out dairy products for a month. Then I may start to slowly reintroduce them to see how I get on.
Is anyone else lactose intolerant? (I daresay there are many!) Do you have any good recipes, especially for desserts? The one time I crave something sweet is when I can't have chocolate! Haha. I have heard about taking the lactase enzyme but I'd rather just try this way first and see if I can get my body to take small amounts by itself. And apparently you can get soya cheese? Now, bearing in mind I am in the UK, are there any decent ones out there? I have both soya milk and soya margarine and they are ok so I have high hopes for other soya products! |

Have a look for some vegan recipes and stuff like that... they don't eat dairy, so you might find something.

I've had cheesly or cheezly I can't remember how it is spelt, it tastes okay, it doesn't take like cheese, it tastes like processed cheese like baby bell and it doesn't melt.

I have my suspicions that I am lactose intolerant. And I know several people (my boyfriend, his sister, and a few friends) that are as well. Some take the lactase pills. But others just deal with the discomfort because they enjoy milk products too much. lol
I'll second the comment on vegan recipes. Soy products are likely your best bet. A lot of the time, milk can be substituted with soy milk. |

I was lactose intolerant when I was a kid, but I grew outta it.
I don't remember exactly what I had to eat in placement of diary products. but good luck! |

I am lactose intolerant, but I love milk too much so I just deal with the after-effects. =)

You can buy dairy free chocolate in the UK, most supermarkets sell it, and cakes etc too! So if you are in need of something sweet there are things that can help!

Do you have Whole Foods in the UK? They carry vegan chocolate chips (no dairy). Vegan with a Vengeance (cookbook) has awesome dessert ideas. I love the ginger cookies. I also make sugar cookies using vegan substitutes and add raspberry, orange, vanilla, or mint extract. Gives them extra flavor. :) If you can't have dairy, you may need to take a calcium supplement. Most soy products don't have enough calcium in them.
