How do I even get a different browser? I wouldn't even know which one to get.

Firefox is usually the safest bet. Just go (in internet explorer) to www.mozilla.com, and download it. The download will put Firefox right on your desktop and be ready to go, and you use it just like you use Internet Explorer.

Downloading a browser is like downloading most programs nowadays. Go on the site, click download, it saves the program onto your desktop, click on it to install and you're ready to go.

There are quite a bit of browsers floating out there. I'd recommend Firefox, which you can download here. Google recently came out with Chrome, which I am in the process of downloading, so I can't say if it's good or not. I'll give you one thing - it's taking ages to install for some weird reason.
There is also Opera, which last time I used was similar to IE. This was about 2-3 years ago, if not more, and it seems to have changed quite a bit, so maybe it's better now - who knows?

Chrome took less than five minutes to download on my computer. I don't know why it'd take so much longer on yours!

There are many choices. Download them all. :)

Firefox
Opera
Safari
Google Chrome

There are more, but these are the main competitors.

Firefox
I would suggest this mainly for the addons. I couldn't live without my addons. There are also a handful of extensions that increase the performance of your browser.

Opera
It has decent security, but it's rather different. It runs pretty smoothly, but it isn't really all that friendly to addons, though they do exist. It has its own set of features that are pretty nifty.

Safari
The only thing I can say about Safari is get it if you are a fan of Apple. If you aren't, stay the hell away.

Google Chrome
This one's new, fun, and very smooth, but it suffers from a slight security hole (not serious at all, though) that should be patched up when GC is out of the beta phase. There aren't a whole lot of addons, but there should be some in the future. It looks all quirky, and some of the features are similar to those of Opera. However, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone until it's released commercially. By then, knowing Google, the problems will be solved and it will become a main competitor for Firefox.

I don't save passwords when I access sites on the internet, at least not using IE's feature. So I'm safe. Though I also don't use IE... so I guess I'm even safer than safe.

I downloaded Google chrome, it's alright, definitely not as good as IE in my opinion, only because it's extremely basic.

Opera FTW!
I also enjoy Safari.
But I have never understood the majority's love of Firefox... it is slow, doesn't display certain pages correctly, is ugly, and is slow. Lol.

I've had the complete opposite experience with FireFox. Mine runs tons faster than either Chrome or IE, I've never had a problem with any page, and as far as being ugly, I just use my TuneUp Utilities 2009 to customize the look and feel. That's something that I can NOT do with either IE or Chrome.

I just downloaded Firefox. Was piss easy, took 5 mins, and hasn't interupted my day at all.
There always seems to be something wrong with IE.

Also, finding Firefox faster than IE already!

I found Chrome is extremely fast compared to Firefox and even IE. Firefox took at least a full minute to open on my computer, severely annoying!
Chrome is so much faster, more convenient, etc.

I JUST started using Firefox, but Bloop never works on there for me. Like, it doesn't allow me to sign in, so that is what I use IE for.

They came out with a patch for the security issue today. So, if you download it and you save PW's in IE then you'll be fine.

Apparently this Chrome thing is good, so says my sister, so I'm going to download it as a 'backup' in case I need it. I love IE. A lot.

My dad uses firefox and I hate it so much. It's hideous and slow.

I just downloaded Google Chrome and I kinda like it. It's simple, which is probably why. However sometimes it's so simple and I'm so used to IE that I can't figure out how to do the easiest things.

ex: It took me about 10 minutes to figure out in order to get my 'bookmarks bar' to show up I had to go to the tools menu and click "always show bookmarks bar."

I never thought I'd say this, but I currently heart something other than internet explorer.
