What do you think makes someone immature or mature? What qualities do you look for?
A lot of people here seem to equate silliness with immaturity - do you agree with this? How important is maturity to you when looking for friendships and contacts? |

I have a very complex guideline for deciding if someone is worth my time or not.
Most people aren't. I hate immature people. You can be silly. I LOVE to be silly, but being silly doesn't equate maturity. Maturity is defined by so many other factors that I'm too tired to list. But I hate stupid. End of story. |

I don't think silliness equals immaturity, but I do think the inability to know when silliness is appropriate is an indicator of immaturity.
As far as looking for friendships/contacts, I try not to make snap judgments. But, if the biggest, most tragic, most dramatic event in a person's life is that they don't get enough notes, I probably won't bother with them. |

Lol. That's more or less what I was about to say. Immaturity is getting all worked up about something trivial (such as getting comments) and writing entries bitching about people, and then creating fake diaries so as to view them. Immaturity is also swearing and calling people names when you can't form an actual logical argument. I guess that's immature AND stupid.

I completely agree. I simply refuse to consider anyone that can't disagree without getting all kinds of upset to be mature. Oh, and let's not forget the holding grudges over stupid shit. Like, if I were to disagree with you on one topic, then decide to HATE you because of that one topic. I've had people do that to me. They disagree with me about one thing, so automatically EVERYTHING I say after that is stupid, even if they pretty much reiterate what I'm saying.
Having differences is part of the fun. Being able to debate and discuss them like adults is ALSO part of the fun. Letting it affect your life is just immature. |

Stupidity makes one immature. Being young and stupid makes it worse.
I cannot read diaries of people that are immature and I can't really tolerate IRL friends that are immature. Maybe it's because I don't really have any friends (IRL and on bloop) that act that way. Maybe it's just because I hate idiots and I usually equate that with being immature. What I consider 'maturity' is definitely important when looking for new friends and contacts on here. I just can't handle reading someones diary talking about how sad they are that daddy isn't going to buy them a new car or that they have to get a job and it's 'oh so hard' or stuff of the like. Sometimes I think a lot of of the teenage bloopers that write about that stuff are immature because they need to step out into the real world and realize that mommy and daddy are not going to be there to pay for your things and make your life so much easier forever. You need to learn to take care of yourself. Pay your own rent, buy your own car and groceries etc. I mean obviously when you're 13 you don't have to worry about that. But 17-19 year olds that bitch about not getting allowance or what they want kind of pisses me off. People that can't even be bothered to type using correct spelling and grammar make it worse....but that's a whole different story. hah. What else.... Ignorance is also something that I consider immature. When people cannot, just for one second, step outside of their little 'world' and their own 'views' to see things from another perspective kills me. I'm not saying that someone has to go against what they believe or change their views completely, but if they could JUST FOR A MINUTE try to understand why someone might feel opposite of what they believe, then I believe you're mature. It's also very respectable, I think. I hope that answered your questions? If not clarify a little more and maybe I'll get it. ;) |

NAH, EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT CRITERIA AS TO WHO THEY WANT ON THEIR FRIENDS LIST, YO. ALTHOUGH, GOSH, I'D HAVE TO STRIKE OUT SOME OF MY NAUGHTY FAVES IF I TOOK THAT RULE! BUT THEN, ON THE OCCASIONS WHEN I'VE BEEN FO, I WOULDN'T ADD ANYONE WHO REQUESTED TO VIEW ME UNLESS I'D GOT TO KNOW THEM A LITTLE - SO THAT MAKES ME EVEN STRICTER IN MY RULES, I GUESS!

Well, I think age generations can have an impact on friendships - just in terms of outlook and needs. It's your diary, as Estella said, everyone's criteria is different. :)

Villy Post Count: 204 |
Hehehe. Almost 20 STILL makes you 6 years younger than me. :-)
Which kind of proves a thought I had earlier. I very rarely look at dates and ages, unless I see reference to school or if its, like, totally, all about dat, like, sum1 special. I mean, omg, dat boy was just, like, sooooo totally cute! :-P |

Its been SUCH a long time since I talked like that. I think my junior year was the last time I said something even remotely like that. ;D and by that I mean 'sooooo totally cute! ^^ ' rofl. If I wrote more often you'd have noticed I'm only 20 :P hehe. |

Villy Post Count: 204 |
True. I might be the same if I was FO. I almost never go looking for new people to read anyway, and I VERY rarely get random readers.
