This is all good advice but sometimes I freeze up in the moment even if I feel prepared. If anything you can always ask an attendant for help, just tell someone that works there you have never flown alone and want to make sure you are doing everything correctly. I always show up 2 hours early *just in case* something goes haywire (or if it is a high volume day), and sit on my laptop or read a book at the gate until it's time to board.
