I followed her quite regularly here; I wasn't particularly close to her, but I was quite saddened by the news of her murder in 2011. I decided to look up her mother on facebook, and took a chance by sending her a condolence message. Some time passed and she hadn't replied, and I figured she had ignored it. I wouldn't blame her, after all. But I was surprised to find that, nearly a year after Sarah's passing, her mother finally replied to that message, and positively, at that. She was grateful to hear from someone that didn't know Sarah personally but still cared enough to speak up about her.
Recently, she added me as a friend on facebook, and let me know she was going to Colorado for the trial of Christopher Mainock, her ex-boyfriend and killer. The trial began on Thursday, and she has been posting updates regarding the proceedings. For privacy's sake, I won't repeat them, but I am honoured to be privy to the knowledge.
I sincerely hope she and her family get the closure they need, and Christopher gets the conviction he deserves.
