I think it's suppose to be light hearted humour? I think the point he's trying to make is - you can get rich quick these days through the most pointless avenues.

Maybe if he had actually succeeded in making money off this venture, it would have made more sense, but I don't know...I do believe it's just suppose to be a joke but either he's really good at staying in character or he's really bad as a comedian.

and from the sound of the way he talks...and the things he talks about...it sounds very much like he is poking fun at the Make-up Gurus on youtube. It seems to have a similar format...the way he talks and so on.
