SUMMERDALE, Alabama --
Jacqueline Mack says her Christmas is ruined. Mack cashed her disability check and was on her way to buy presents for her grandchildren. The Prichard woman stopped off at a convenience store in Summerdale to buy a snack on her way to the Tanger Outlet Mall to shop...and accidentially dropped 640 dollars on the floor near the cash register. Not knowing what happened, Mack headed to the mall. The store's security camera shows another customers kick the cash closer to the counter, bend down and pick it up. But by the time Mack realizes the money is gone- the Christmas Grinch is long gone. Police have viewed the surveillance video and call what they see a crime. The suspect was last seen getting into a tan, 90's model Nissan car with a temporary tag on the back window. The car headed south on Highway 59. If you can help pull off a Christmas mircale and help Mack get her money back, call the Summerdale Police Department. Video/Link This is literally in my neck of the AL woods (as Prichard is actually a part of time I'm afraid to be at at night and the boyfran wouldn't like me being there at night either :-/) and I find this disgusting. Srsly?!?!?! I feel guilty for not calling out to someone if they drop $1, much less hundreds. UGH!!! That woman disgusts me. Especially with Christmas so close. That poor woman. :-/ |

They actually didn't say (at least in the article you posted) that the suspect was a woman ;)
It's such a bummer that this happened though. However - how do you "Accidentally" drop $640 on the floor and not notice it? I'm so petrified to carry even $50 around with me, that if I have cash like that, it is IN my wallet/an envelope, IN my purse, ZIPPED lol. |

@Amber, oh I actually watched the video which is actually more disgusting. :-/ In the vid you can clearly see it's a woman. I wondered that too, that's a huge chunk of cash. But she is disabled (and from the video you can't rly tell from what) so maybe she just didn't see it. When it fell it fell towards the counter and was even kinda messy but she didn't step on it, so Idk. Lady was older, that's all I can say for her.
A lot of the comments were ppl talking about them not liking to put money in their purses/wallets b/c of the fear of getting robbed, which I get but then where the hell do you put your money then?!!? If you're gonna carry cash, where is it s'posed to go? If I have that much it goes in the bank. :-/ |

i've had older customers do it before. the cash doesn't quite go into their pocket, or they set it down to sign something/adjust stuff in their bag. i never pocket it though. i put it in our safe at work, or if i'm in a shop i hand it into the staff.

Yeah. The comments on facebook are just disgusting. I mean yeah I don't get how she didn't feel it but that doesn't mean it's her fault. Ppl saying shit like she deserves it for not noticing that she dropped it and that "we" (ppl who pay taxes) probably paid for it (even though it was a disability check and not a social security check) and that whoever found the money deserves to keep it b/c "we" paid for it (and this comment was also most likely said b/c Prichard is a bad, poor part of town. And the guy who said it is most likely racist >.
