High Tension is also a pretty good one. It had me covering my eyes and creeped out for a few days afterwards. If you're looking for more psychological thrillers the movie Identity was good as well.

I don't like scary movies, they freak me out. But one of my friend's is sitting here and he said Spliced the wisher was pretty good. He thought the human centipede could've been a lot scarier it was just gross. I watched Strangeland back in high school and it was just freaking weird. See No Evil was gory and bloody he said.

Watched one last night named SQUEAL.

It's sort of a mix of Splice, Human Centipede, and Deliverance. LOL

30 days of night scared the crap out of me.

I thought Rob Zombie's second Halloween movie was pretty gory. Way more than the first one.

As well as Requiem for a Dream, I also found A Clockwork Orange to be pretty disturbing.

I don't usually find cliche gory horror movies disturbing. I'm more disturbed by the real physical and psychological torture people can do to themselves and to others.

Another "horror" film I love are the Piranha movies. They're not really disturbing at all (and tbh, I found the newest ones ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS XD) and I find it fun identifying the porn stars that are in the new one. XD (I work in a porn store and when I saw it I'd just started and was like, OOO!!! Riley Steele! Ashlynn Brooke! I know those girls! XD) They're just so hilariously gory in them. xD

@Love Nik: I got a kick out of the new Piranha movie as well. The ending was great.

I used to work in a porn store as well.

@MG yeah I'm making my bf taking me to go see the 2nd one that comes out later this year; he's gonna go see Piranha 3DD w/ me and I'll go see Paranormal Activity 3 w/ him in theaters (which I'm dreading btw @___@) but the new one was just so damn funny. The "torture porn" type of horror films I find hilarious. They're just so stupid. xD

The original invasion of the body snatchers is good the history of it sets the mood. The movie is about communism. How people seem the same but they aren't because they are communist. Also the opening and ending scenes werent original. They added the ones here now to give it the frame story feel to provide hope to the people that communism will be stopped.

So when it comes to movies that are older....another good classic is The Birds... Is to research a bit about what was going on while they were made because those subtle messages is half of what made them so scary to begin with.

For modern, i liked Gothika.

i can't be bothered going back and reading this whole thread, so forgive me if i repeat anything.

the guinea pig series is kinda messed up. in fact a fair chunk of asian horror movies are fucked up. there's one i saw, which title currently escapes me, but this woman eats these dumplings of chickens that haven't finished developing in the egg as a way of keeping her youth. then she hears about a woman that makes special ones that work better. turns out she uses aborted fetuses. kinda fucked. wish i could remember that one's title.

i had a whole list of movies that i'd heard were messed up, but haven't seen yet.
