I'm married to a 24-year-old man; I love my husband don't get me wrong, but I think I've learned that I would have been very happy with someone 10-12 years older than me. I have an old mind set and want a family, and to settle down. Some 24-year-old guys are not ready for that..

And I could not date anyone younger than me.

It's all about the maturity level, really. Personally, I'd go for almost anyone, so long as their maturity level matches mine. There are many other factors that narrow that field down, but you know.

Realistically speaking, I think my range at this point would be 16-36 (10 years younger to 10 years older). There aren't many teens that are mature enough, but it IS possible. And I generally find people older than 35 or so to be too cynical for my tastes.

Me & Jay are 9 years apart. We started dating when I was 17 & he was 26..I wouldn't have dated him if he was any older than that. Now with me being 21 (in about 2 weeks!!) I would say 33 is my limit.

my husband and I are 14.5 years apart. I was 22 and he was 36 when we started dating. I used to say I would never date anyone more than 4 years older but you never who you will connect with and fall for. We are very happy.

I honestly couldn't date someone younger than me (at this point, at least). I don't mean it in a rude or bitchy way, but a lot of the guys I know that are my age are REALLY immature and I just can't handle that.
Everyone I've ever had a relationship with has been older than I am. In my longest relationship, my boyfriend was 5 1/2 years older. I guess it just really depends on the person.

Kevin and I are 6 years apart. The new guy I'm talking to is 12 years older than me and that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

No more than around 15 years older. No younger than my brother, who is just over a year younger than me.
That being said, not looking! Ty is 6 weeks older than me. Sometimes he acts 6 years older than me, sometimes he acts 6 years younger.

I'm 25 and I've never dated anyone more than two years older than me. Older guys just don't do it for me. Quite a few of my friends date older men though and I feel like if they make eachother happy then age doesn't matter. I dated a 20yr old when I was 24 and it was bad! Young guys are cute but very immature. I would have to say no older than 35 no younger than 22.

Hehe I'm more like you - I think I couldn't go any older than 28 (I'm 23). I think we'd be in different places in terms of life and maturity (me probably being the immature one xD) - I still want to explore the world and develop my career. Settling down and having a family is on the radar, but not for a few years at least. The guy I'm with, who's 8 months younger than me... well I can't decide whether he's more mature than me or not, but the point is that his age and maturity enable me to chill out a bit, because I take myself WAY too seriously sometimes. xD

i always said i wouldnt date someone younger but my bf is a year younger and hes lovely.. dont notice the difference, we get on great together. also, how can you say you definitely wouldnt get with someone so-so years older/younger etc. when you meet someone you really really like nothing matters.. its more like what you want out of life.. kids, marriage etc.. that become the big issues that get in the way..

It depends on the person. I never thought I'd date a younger man, but my husband is VERY mature for his age, and he's 4 years younger than I am. It works for us. Now, I can't say that he hasn't had his moments over the years, but for the most part, the age thing hasn't been an issue at all.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this question, as long as both parties are consenting, obviously. Whats right for one, isn't going to be right for another. My husband and I have a 5.5 year age gap between the two of us. We have been together since I was 15. It has never been an issue for us at all.

i think that it's more about what point each individual happens to be at in his/her life more than the age difference. when i was eighteen i dated a twenty-three year old. i don't think that five years is bad at all, but i was just graduating high school and i wanted to have a boyfriend and go out and have a good time while he was ready to marry and start a family. i was ready to go party and he was asking me which house i liked better :P. it just wouldn't have worked. i think that age doesn't matter as long as both people are in the same stage in their lives.

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. The biggest age gap I've had with a boyfriend is 3 years lol. I personally don't think I could date anyone younger than me, and I don't think I could date anyone more than 10 years older than me right now. But then when I'm 30 I think that would be different. The age gap between 30 and 40 doesn't seem so different as 20 and 30. Just my opinion - I don't think there's anything wrong with it though. One of my Aunts is married to a man who is 26 (I think) years older than her and it works for them. It is just down to the people themselves, how mature they are. etc etc
