Okay, let me fill you all in. My nephew, Nathan Moran, is 7 months old, he will be 8 months old on the 16th of this month. Nathan was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive cancer at the age of 3 months old. Nathan has Rhabdomyosarcoma on his spine and lower abdominal area. He has been undergoing intensive chemotherapy for the past 5 months. This tumor has put pressure on his nerves and caused him to lose all control of his bowels, urine and use of his feet is paralyzed. Nathan was recently taken to NYC to Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to have surgery on his tumor. Last Wednesday, February 3, 2010. They were able to remove the entire tumor from his spinal area and took samples of tissue to see if there was any cancer anywhere else in his little body. They had been giving my sister positive news about her son the entire time. Today, February 10, 2010, he was taken back to the Cancer center for what they expected to be a chemotherapy session, but instead they were given bad news. Nathan has another spot of the same cancer in another area of his body and they are trying to make a decision on what to do for him. They are considering a second surgery next week, or a different chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He has already been told that due to the nerve damage he will never have control of his bowels, urine movements, or have any feeling on the backs of his legs and will never be able to move his feet. This has been so devestating for my sister, her family, and the rest of our family. Please, if you pray...pray and pray hard!!
