Tea Party Organizer Calls Obama a Socialist

Nashville, Tennessee (CNN) -- The organizer of the Tea Party Convention says he agrees with Tom Tancredo's description of President Obama as a socialist.

Oh wow, a tea party organizer from Tennessee thinks Obama is a socialist.

The former congressman from Colorado and 2008 Republican presidential candidate blasted Obama, saying "people who could not even spell the word 'vote', or say it in English, put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House. His name is Barack Hussein Obama."

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh man, this statement rocks. Like, these are the people who showed up at the tea parties comparing Obama to Hitler and called him a "moran."

Tancredo made his comments Thursday night as he gave the kickoff speech for the convention, which is being held at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville.

Judson Phillips, a Tennessee lawyer who formed Tea Party Nation and who organized what's being billed as the first national Tea Party Convention, told reporters Friday that "Tom Tancredo gave a fantastic speech last night. I think he is an amazing politician."

Sure. "Amazing" politicians know how to rattle the base, identify with the stupids and make them fight for false reasons, for instance, saying that Obama is a socialist. Then going on to say that socialism is exactly like how Russia was during the Cold War. And THEN calling him a terrorist. Those are the signs of a good, conservative politician.

Asked if he agrees with Tancredo's description of Obama, Phillips said, "The word 'socialist' is a word you don't want to be labeled with in the American political system. It's got a lot of negative connotations, but it also has a very specific political meaning. It refers to a specific political ideology. I think it is very clear that that is the political ideology of Barack Obama."

Phillips added that he thinks "Tancredo doesn't feel like a lot of people who supported Barack Obama understand the basics of this country."

This is another segment that I saw, turned in my chair, and spit my drink all over the place. Notice how they're explaining how the word "socialist" has a very negative meaning, but they weren't even attempting to go into what the word means.

I saw that on the news...if anything, these people are getting annoying. I know it's freedom of speech, but is putting Hitler's mustache on Obama's face really necessary? That's immaturity to me. This country can be unbelievable sometimes.

I didnt mean to do that ^^ lol

Blah Blah Blah, whine whine whine. Get over it. I think people who dont get 'their' person in office need to stop calling names and try to work with this country. Obviously he doesnt know what the country stands for either, because it stands for the RIGHT to have your OWN opinion. Gah.

I dont agree with everything Obama has done, but, I agree with MORE of what he has done then what Bush did, so I guess he is ahead of the curve..

My honest opinion? Jesus is coming back soon; so I don't care. I'll just lean on Him until He takes this world back over (and leads me into Heaven) and we all learn the truth....

I just want to say, you know, as a P.S. - that has literally zero to do with the thread or the problem at hand. Like at all.

It does actually. Everything that is going with the government, the world, all of the natural disasters. We are one step closer to the Lord coming back.

So, I fight for the important stuff, and than I leave all of other stuff in God's hands; because "like I said," He's coming really soon!

You asked for people's thoughts, she gave hers. She wasn't preaching to anyone, just stating her opinion on how it all doesn't matter anyway.

"Hey what do you think about politics?"
"I think it doesn't matter because there's a sale on OREOS at the store!"
"What the hell?"
"SHUT UP, SHE WAS STATING HER OPINION!"

That's what you sound like.

Your Oreo analogy is poor, at best.

Which really kind of surprises me. I held you to a higher standard than that. I guess I was mistaken.

You held me to a higher standard until I disagreed with you.

Derailing threads with nonsensical bullshit is a pet-peeve of mine, so I mentioned it.

Actually, that's not it. But of course you would assume it is because that's the only argument you can make. Pitiful, really.

Your analogy is very poor. Let's think about this. SHE believes there is a God. YOU do not. That is the ONLY reason you think her opinion had nothing to do with the topic at hand. But because she believes there is a God, she believes that this really doesn't matter because it's all going to come to an end soon. So yes, her thoughts and opinion on your original post have far more validity than your silly analogy of an oreo sale.

Just because you don't believe there is a God doesn't mean her opinion founded on the belief of that God is invalid. Her opinion, based on her beliefs, is VERY valid to the point of this thread.

You poor analogy only goes to prove that the only opinions you feel are valid are the ones you agree with.

It's not the only argument I can make. I'm just not taking either of you seriously. You ever try having a conversation with a street-preacher? I didn't think so.

Let's go over your logic one step at a time.

"Let's think about this. SHE believes there is a God. YOU do not. That is the ONLY reason you think her opinion had nothing to do with the topic at hand."

By that logic, you can make every topic ever made about God and religion. Or we can use a least a little bit of forum etiquette and not derail the thread with nonsensical bullshit. Which is what the oreo comment was, and therefore a good analogy.

"But because she believes there is a God, she believes that this really doesn't matter because it's all going to come to an end soon. So yes, her thoughts and opinion on your original post have far more validity than your silly analogy of an oreo sale."

Actually, they don't, because I never asked about God, or whether or not that loving man is going to come down and slaughter his beloved creations.

"Just because you don't believe there is a God doesn't mean her opinion founded on the belief of that God is invalid. Her opinion, based on her beliefs, is VERY valid to the point of this thread."

I also never said her opinion was invalid. I just said they had nothing to do with the thread. Posting about how awesome oreos are in a thread about socialism is a valid opinion, yet has nothing to do with socialism. Neither does God or religion.

"You poor analogy only goes to prove that the only opinions you feel are valid are the ones you agree with."

What is this stupidity?

Perhaps next time you say "Thoughts?" you should specify what thoughts you are looking for. She gave her thoughts on why it doesn't matter. You asked for thoughts, she gave her thoughts why none of this makes any difference to her.

I figured common sense would kick in after reading an article about Socialism. Did I really NEED to be specific there?

I guess you just missed her point. Which I think was very clear.

Whether the government becomes socialist, communist, capitalist, terrorist whatever, doesn't make a difference to her because she believes Jesus Christ is returning soon and it's not going to matter anyway.

Now, tell me how that has nothing to do with the point of the thread?

It absolutely does not have anything to do with the thread. I've already made an analogy for you. On top of that, we already went over what's wrong with Christianity being relevant to every debate topic ever.

Fine, I'll give you a better example.

It would be like an article talking about Oreos and how they're wonderful and great. I ask for thoughts, and someone's like, "It doesn't matter because Jesus is coming." It just has nothing to do with anything, and it derailed the thread.

It only derailed the thread because you had to comment on how inappropriate it was for the thread. Had you just left it alone and kept your opinion on her opinion to yourself, this would not have happened.

So since you are so worried about the thread being derailed, I'll just stop responding to your (what I believe to be) silly ideas of how her opinion isn't valid to the topic and how it derailed your thread.

I hope you get the discussion you wanted. My opinion in this thread shall further be kept to myself.

Thread's dead now, should be in Bloop Drama or the Graveyard as soon as Doc gets on. We can party in this thread.

He only said what everyone else was thinking. I was thinking it myself and I've seen at least one of my faves mention it in an entry.
