I think most of my readers know that my job involves me working with firearms, mainly military and law enforcement weapons. They were testing a long-range sniper rifle today (SCAR Mk 17 SSR, for the more firearm-savvy readers) and I was assigned to fire it 1000 rounds. While the SCAR is a pretty comfortable weapon to shoot, hurling .30 caliber bullets downrange at the significantly higher velocities of the special long-range sniper rounds for four hours is like being in a gang fight and finding out that your gang didn’t show.
I had recovered completely from my stomach bug by Sunday, I was feeling well enough to eat at a Mexican restaurant for lunch! I spent almost all day Sunday working on one of my model car projects, I’m still working on that How-To build that I’m photographing as I’m going along. I managed to put all that stuff away around midnight, took a shower, and fell into bed around 1 AM. I’m feeling the effects of not enough sleep now. Almost time to go home and rest! |
