Monday update

03/02/2009

I didn't do much of any note Saturday after getting home from my concealed weapon class. I wanted to work on a model car project but both models I have in progress are painted white and I was afraid to work on them with my fingers still dark from the fingerprint ink. It was dreary and rainy all weekend so I just watched movies and relaxed. I had gotten a pork loin to cook but it was too cold and wet to smoke it outdoors, I marinated it and slow-roasted it for 12 hours in the oven. It wasn't bad at all, it lacked the smoky flavor obviously but it was tender and still passably tasty. Pretty much like most restaurant pork anyway. Once I was done with that Sunday morning I decided my fingers were clean enough to work on a model car project. I'm building the car Bobby Allison won the 1982 Daytona 500 with, it's a 1982 Buick Regal.

I still need to finish the decals and some of the other details like chrome trim and bright aluminum finishes but it's coming along nicely.

Today at work they had another sale of engineering guns. I picked up a plinking and varmint gun for $200, it's a new Winchester Model 70 in .243 caliber. It has a silver barrel and black receiver, the barrel is for a Featherweight model and the stock is a Sporter. I'm not sure when we can pick them up, some time this week for sure.
