Lovely weekend

03/14/2011

I’m gradually getting used to the loss of sensation in my fingertip but it still feels very weird to try and grasp or pull something with that finger. Since half the pad on the tip of my finger has feeling and half doesn’t the fingertip always feels tingly like it’s falling asleep. I’m sure I’ll adapt, it’s just taking a while. I worked in the yard this weekend though, I didn’t let it stop me. I sprayed herbicide on weeds in the sidewalk and on wild blackberries that are springing up on the side of my house, I ran the edger along both sides of the sidewalk and the curb, and I picked up pine cones from the back yard. I had one pine that was too large for me to take down myself when I moved in so I’m stuck with it. I’m not a big fan of pine trees but I’ll deal with this one. It doesn’t dump a massive quantity of pine straw (yet) and the cones are manageable.

I also cooked New York Strip over charcoal for Sunday lunch. Perfectly cooked medium, with a four-cheese ziti on the side. The strips were large enough to reheat a portion for dinner, it was just as good the second time. Possibly some of the tastiest steak I’ve ever cooked.

I’ve also gotten back into working on that model car that wounded me two weeks ago. I find that I can do almost as much as I could before the injury, I really didn’t use that finger for much that required dexterity. I’ll post photos when I get a bit further along but it’s coming along nicely now.
