I’ve intended to write every day for the past week but for one reason or another I haven’t gotten around to it. Work has been very busy for one thing, my group has two separate solicitations requested by the government due at the end of this week, we had to have reports, presentations, and hardware complete and submitted. In the past week I’ve run belts of ammo through machine guns until the end of the barrel glowed red hot, I’ve stood on a ladder and dropped a 30 pound machine gun from 1 meter onto plywood on top of concrete, and I’ve cleaned and assembled and tested and cleaned some more and packed components for shipping. I’m definitely ready for the weekend!
Last week I was up past 1am most nights, which wasn’t helpful either. A friend of mine and I were collaborating on two pieces of artwork used to print decals for model cars. Both of the cars I’m building are extremely obscure, the LEAST obscure version was raced three times in 1968 and six times in 1969 with a best finish of seventh place!
If that wasn’t enough on my plate, we had a storm blow through earlier this week. I was awakened at 4am by strong wind and strong hail beating against my window. When I left for work I found visible damage to my roof, several shingles had been lifted and one was torn completely off. I was luckier than the neighbor across the street, that house had several pieces of siding ripped off and two sections of roofing were damaged. The insurance adjuster is scheduled to survey the damage Sunday morning. |
