My Christmas break began Friday at 5pm. I offered to take my wife to the mall to get her a Christmas present Saturday, she wanted a winter hat so we got up early and got to the mall just after it opened. The mall was almost deserted! We got her hat then drove to Sam's Club to look for electric toothbrushes since the dentist advised us to use one. We didn't find one at Sam's but we did manage to leave with a tray of baklava that we have thoroughly enjoyed. We next tried the Wal-Mart in the same shopping center, again no luck with the electric toothbrush but I saw neck pillows for $10 so I bought one to use on the flight to California next month. On the way home we stopped at CVS Pharmacy and finally found the toothbrush we wanted. All in all, not a bad shopping experience for the Saturday before Christmas! I was shocked that things were so slow, it was more like a normal summer Saturday morning.
We got home before noon, I bought takeout pizza while we were out so we had that for lunch. I had planned to organize the garage Saturday afternoon but it started raining while I was eating lunch so I tried out the neck pillow and took a long, deep nap in my chair. When I woke up I did more work on my model car project and read a bit.
Today was cooler after the rain but it was still reasonably comfortable, it was sweater weather. We ate lunch at Red Robin then came home to tackle the garage. We made decent progress, we dragged out several boxes of trash and managed to clear out between 1/3 and 1/2 of the one side of the garage. We probably spent a little over two hours to get that far, I took care of most of the big stuff but I still have a lot of smaller things to deal with. It'll be nice to sleep late tomorrow instead of getting up for work.
