After a good night sleep I wake and have some breakfast. I talked to the inn keeper and she told me of a bounty on some bandits at Halted Stream Camp. I might go and see if I can claim the bounty after delivering the Dragonstone to Farengar.
After delivering the Dragonstone, Irileth, the Jarl's housecarl, asked myself and Farenger to go see the Jarl about an important matter.
The Jarl has asked me to go with Irileth and some guards to the western watch tower because a dragon was flying near by. I don't know what he expects of me but I will do my best to help if I can. He also rewarded me for helping Farengar by giving me permission to buy a house in Whiterun. If I don't get burnt to a crisp by this dragon then I might just take him up on that offer, I could do with a permanent place of residence.
I met Irileth and the guards near the watch tower and it is obvious that a dragon has been here. We decide to wait for a bit to see if it comes back before we investigate.
The dragon attacked while we were investigating. It was a tough battle but we managed to best it. After it had fell, dead from the sky, I approached it and a strange thing happened, similar to what happened in Bleak Falls Barrow with the word wall. A strange power left the dragon and transferred to me. The guards are saying that I absorbed it's soul and calling me Dragonborn. I can't be Dragonborn, can I? It's just a legend.
One of the guards tells me to try shouting like the Dragonborn and to my surprise, I do. I'm still not convinced that I am Dragonborn but I seem to be able to shout like one.
Irileth told me to return to Whiterun to tell the Jarl about what happened. On the way back I heard what sounded like doe vah keen coming from the sky. I don't know what that means but maybe the Jarl will.
Upon returning to Whiterun, two Alik'r warriors stopped me to ask if I have seen a Redguard woman and said that they would pay good money for any information on her where abouts. They said they would be in Rorikstead if I find anything. I don't know what to think about this. I'm not going to actively look for this woman but if I find her, I will decide on what to do then.
After talking to Jarl Balgruuf, I learned that the sound I heard whilst returning was the Greybeards summing me. I guess I really am Dragonborn. The Jarl said I should go to High Hrothgar, way up on The Throat of The World, and talk to them. He also named me Thane of Whiterun for defeating the dragon and assined me a housecarl called Lydia.
I decide to see if there are any jobs around Whiterun before going to see the Greybeards, so I can get some extra gold.
A woman called Carlotta has asked me to talk to the bard Mikael and see if I can get him to leave her alone.
I managed to convince Mikael to leave Carlotta alone and was rewarded 250 gold.
A young woman called Ysolda has asked me to try and get her a mammoth tusk I think this will be a difficult task so I will not do this right away and see if I come across one in my travels.
A man named Amren has asked me to keep an eye out for his family sword whilst out on my travels. I told him I will. Hopefully I will find it easily enough.
I sold some firewood to Hulda at the inn for 90 gold. I may have to chop wood more often, it seems like an easy way to earn gold. The begger, Brenuin asked me to steal some Argonian wine from the Bannered Mare but I'm no thief so I refused him.
After Speaking to Hulda in The Bannered Mare, I learned of a Shrine of Azura that sounds interesting. She also told me that the Gildergreen Tree isn't blooming so I may see about that. I also overheard her talking about someone in Riften who can change your face. Who would do such a thing to themselves?
A woman called Uthgerd the Unbroken challenged me to a brawl and wagered 100 gold that she would win. It was a good fight but I won in the end and I'm now 100 gold richer and have her respect. She said that I can call on her if I need help.
I decide to go after the bounty on the bandits at Halted Stream Camp. I also decided to bring Lydia with me in the hopes I can finish the job quickly.
We arrived at Halted Stream Camp just as it was getting dark and used that to our advantage. We were able to kill a few bandits before they even knew we were there. When we got inside though, it was a different matter. We struggled with the leader of the bandits but bested him in the end.
As it turns out, Halted Stream Camp is an iron mine. In the morning I will mine some ore to sell so I can add some more septims to the bounty that I will collect. There was also a body of a mammoth in the main area of the mine and lots of mammoth tusks lying around. I will give one of these tusks to Ysolda so she can open here stall.
We will make camp in the mine tonight and return to Whiterun in the morning. |
