I wake at dawn and have breakfast of cheese and a cup of tea before taking a carrage to
Riverwood. I am a little nervous about going to Bleak Falls Barrow today because I hear
that there are Draugr roaming around inside and I have never faced one before.
When I got to Bleak Falls Barrow, there were bandits at the entrance. I hope this doesn't
mean that there are more inside.
Sadly, there were more bandits inside and they almost bested me. I don't know why I
agreed to do this, I don't really have much combat experience. I'm just a hunter.
I have gone deeper in to the barrow and I saw a man try a lever of some kind, only to be shot with
poison darts. It looks like I have to solve some kind of puzzle before pulling the lever.
After looking around the puzzle room I managed to find clues on how to solve it and
managed to get through unscathed.
I heard a voice calling for help so I followed it and found a dark elf trapped in webbing.
Suddenly I was attacked by a monsterous Frostbite Spider. I managed to defeat it but it
was a tough battle. Afterwards I cut down the dark elf and found out his name was Arvel.
He told me he had a golden claw and that he "knew how to use it". I don't understand what
he means and before I could ask, he attacked me. Luckily I was to quick for him and I
managed to kill him before he got to close. I found a journal on his body which hinted at
how to use the claw and the golden claw itself, which I assume is the same golden claw the
shop keep mentioned. It was a bit of good luck that I managed to find it while looking for
another item altogether. I shall return the claw as soon as I find the Dragonstone and get
out of this gods forsaken place.
I have faced my first draugr and I won. I managed to use my skill as a hunter to stay
hidden and shoot it from the shadows. I hope all of the draugr are this easy. I also managed
to get a new bow from the remains.
I found a pickaxe next to an iron ore vain so I mined so ore for a while. I hope I can sell
this to a blacksmith so I can earn some gold to buy better equipment.
I have managed to make my way deeper in to the barrow. I find that the draugr vary in
strength and some are very hard to defeat. I have been lucky to make it this far. I hope
that I am getting closer to finding this blasted Dragonstone.
I have managed to make it to what I assume is what Arvel's journal refers to all The Hall
of Stories. This is where I have to use the golden claw. The clue is "When you have the
golden claw, the solution is in the palm of your hand". This will take some time to work out.
I have figured it out. On the palm of the golden claw are three symbols which match the
three rings on the big door. All I have to do is turn the rings until the symbols are in the
same order as the ones on the claw.
It worked. After putting the symbols in the right order I put the claw in the slot and the door opened. Beyond is some kind of cavern with a coffin in the center and a strange wall with glowing writing on it. The words seem to call to me. As I approached the wall, the words seemed to release some kind of energy and it seemed to transfer in to me. I now have a word constantly flying around my head "Fus". I'm not sure
I like this.
After I "absorbed" the word, the lid of the coffin flew up in to the air and a very
powerful draugr climbed out and attacked me. I was able to best it but I still feel strange
from the encounter with the wall. The draugr had the Dragonstone on it so I managed to
complete my goal. Now to return to Riverwood and give the claw back to the shop keep.
I have returned the golden claw to Lucan the shop keep and he and his sister Camilla were
very grateful. I sold some items I found while in the barrow and bought some things I
needed. I think I'll just have some dinner and get a bed at the local inn. |
