I fancy buying a few books of the horror genre but I can't find any that appeal to me. I am a huge fan of Anne Rice and I'm not into Stephen King or anything that could be classed for young-adults. Any suggestions?

I really loved "Dracula" by: Bram Stoker.
It's not really young adult but I loved it. |

If you can find it, kinda old, but Usher's Passing by Robert R McCammon was one of my faves. Also look for Brian Lumley's Necroscope series. Most of the horror books I have are by King... so there goes that. lol

Lol, I just don't like the way he writes; find it difficult to get into.

Check out Edward Lee. His books are freaking awesome. They've got the splattergore quality of Saw type stuff with the twisted mindfuck quality of Chuck Palheniuk...or however you say his name. LOL

You can read "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." ha ha. Don't know if that's horror or not, but hey, it's got zombies and funnily enough Natalie Portman (of all people) is looking into making a movie of it.

Yeah I read an extract on Amazon and am thinking of getting it, mainly because I think Pride and Prejudice is vastly overrated!

The Amityville Horror is probably the scariest book I've ever read. It's based on a "true" story ;-D Jay Anson is the author.
