I dont have a title to this one yet and it is not finished but I'm not sure where it will go, so instead of just having it sit without my fans reading it, here it is. let me know what you think so far.
I remember when I got my first guitar
I was praying to god and wishing on a lucky star
It was my 10th birthday
I just knew this would be the day, I could not wait to play
My parents handed me a small box
I was disappointed, I was thinking I got some rocks
It was even too small to be a video game
What ever it is, I wont be happy, but I’ll have to reframe
I ripped off the paper
I was happy and confused
It was picks for a guitar, but no guitar to use?
My mom said, “you don’t look happy?”
“If I had something to use these with, I would be”
My parents look rejected, I didn’t know what to say
I went to my room, I felt bad, but all I want to do is play
a shiny new guitar with 6 strings sat on my bed
I was so excited I just screamed! thoughts were racing through my head.
I ran to it and held it in my arms
I gave it a name, my lucky charm
The smooth wood with a shiny glosss
The strings were tight, I could get lost
Pulling out a pick from the box, I played some strings
I heard my mom say, “thhat’s his thing”
Every day I would come home from school and play
Hours and hours every day
I got some music books
Llearned to play “wanted dead or alive” I was hooked.
I learned to write music
MAAAAAAN was I sick
If I don’t say so myself
I had real dreams playing for welth
I saw an add in a local newspaper for a music talent show
First prise was $1000, I had to go
I sent an email with my information
Holding my baby, hopefully we’ll get reservation
The next few days I was feeling ancy
I didn’t hear back, maybe they are just teasing me
The week end past, writing a few more songs
Mid-morning, I brought in the mail because my parents were gone
Going through it all, it was mostly bills
No mail for me, I felt ill
I gave up, thinking I shouldn’t work so hard
I realized on the floor was a post card
Picking it up, thinking nothing of it
Turning it over, there was a picture of the club.
My heart started pounded hard, it was going “lubdub, lubdub”
I turned it over with shaking hands
I think to myself, this is going to be grand
You have been invited to perform this Saturday night
Bring all your own geer, so you know it will be right
You can invite 2 guest, but must be over 18
Arrive prior to 6pm, the password is green
I had to reread it, line by line
I could not believe it, this was my time
I have to call Billy, Bob and Mike
This can’t be right
I called my parents at work, they were both excited for me
I put the letter in my desk
I’ll ask my parents later if they want to be my guest
The week went by slow
My parents said they would go
I never thought about what I would wear
Or how I wanted to wear my hair
I was trying to narrow down the songs I would play
Black cat on 4th of July, Sitting at the bar with uncle Ray
Maybe the lonely guitar or the six strings
The door bell rings
