Almost two weeks ago, I went outside to feed my dogs and one of them looked sick. Rome was sitting to the side just staring off. He couldn't even walk. He was nothing but skin and bones, which apparently we hadn't noticed before because he had a shirt on. It was weird because just the day before he had been fine! Lots of energy!! My first thought was about the neighbors. They've been giving us A LOT more trouble about our dogs! They've called the cops, the humane society and the landlords. And all of them have said there is no problem with our dogs. So one night right before Rome got sick, the guy next door stood outside our house and screamed and cussed at us. We were sitting in the living room watching T.V. and all of a sudden we heard someone screaming outside. we started paying attention and heard him say, "For the last time, SHUT YOUR FUCKING DOGS UP!!" Apparently they have a problem when our dogs bark. Which is strange that no one but them can hear them.
Anyways- I assumed that rome had been poisoned. Although that was not the case. Which I am thankful for in a way. Rome had Parvo. I thought we were going to lose him. He was so sick! We took him to the vet, and he tested positive for Parvo. We decided to try the IV treatmens. The vet told us that it could take 3-5 days to see any improvement at all! And even then it's was no guarentee and he could still have to be put down. He said the bill would be between $300-$500+. But he said that they could very rarely treat a dog for only $300. We left him at the vet for the treatments.
We called the next morning to check on him. The nurse said he was doing very well!! By that night he was able to come home!!!! Although, I had to work and we couldn't pick him up until the next morning. We ended up paying a total of $318, including all of his meds he brought home and the exam fee for bringing him in.
So...that's our vet trip!!!! :] Rome is back at home, off all meds and doing very well!! He's gained his weight back and has all of his energy back.... plus some! lol
More later you guys! Have a good weekend!!
