my weekend

06/29/2009

Friday:
*key players on this evening
*Jonathan (that's me) Justin (my twin) Lindsay (his wife) John (my best friend) Kat (his wife) Jeff (a college friend of Justin)

Justin got us tickets to see the commidian Jamie Kenidy who has been in a lot of movies. I dont know him but I knew the movies so I figure I would go.

There is a restaurant we all wanted to go to but when Justin Called up on Tuesday for a reservation they said they are all booked for Friday nights till August but if we wanted to come in and put our name in, we would get seated eventually. We went with a different place until Jeff said that he would go wait since he is not working. I emailed the crew saying I would go down and wait with him. So Friday I met Jeff at the restaurant about quarter of 5 and we were going to put our name in. They guy said we could be seated right now if we wanted. Jeff said that we are waiting for more people and they wont be here for an hour. So they put us down for 5;30. Jeff is a big beer drinker and even though they had a bar there, it was quite loud so we went somewhere else. We walked about 7 blocks and found a bar. We went in, He got a beer and I was like I dont know what I want. He goes "come on Jonathan, just get your screwdriver. you know you want one." so he orders me one. I pick up the tab. (because I am that kind of a guy) and we head ba back about 5;30. He had called Justin and I called John in themean time to let them know that we do have reservations for 5;30, but they dont have to be there at 5;30. We end up waiting in side for about 15 mins than out side till they got there about 6. We went in, and went up stairs.
(we went to a restaurant called fire and ice. it is a buffet type place that has a bunch of stations but than there is a grill in the middle where they have 8 people working the grill. You take your food and what ever type of sause you want. they have about 8 dif types, or you can mix them, and bring it up and they will cook it for you. So first I had a big salad. than I had a stir fry of veggies and rice in a teriachi sause. I was getting filled but not full so I got a burger that I didnt think I would finish, but somehow I did. Justin had drove in and parked by the thearter while John parked near the restaurant. So Justin, Lindsay and Jeff walked the 12 blocks to the thearter and John, Kat and myself drove over and parked. At one point Kat (who loves icecream like I love the redsox) asked John in a begging-wining tone if he'll buy her an icecream after. He grumbled "no" She goes "Jonathan, will you buy me an icecream?" I said "of course I will my dear" I was holding on to John's elbo at the time and he yanked his arm away and said enjoy your icecream. I just stood there laughing. Eventually Kat came over and offered her elbow. *I just think it is funny how much they fight or rather, mock fight, because Kat knows that if she asks enough, and it is not too extrordenary, she'll get it. but than me, I would just treat my lady (when I find me one) like a princess.

We go to the show. The ticket says 7;30, we get there a few mins after 8, and as we are sitting down, the first act comes out. Perfect timing on our part. The first guy was a Jewish guy who called himself Flip. He did a lot of talking to the croud and playing off the croud. He asked if there was any Bachelorette parties. A bunch of girls creamsed. There was 3 dif ones there. Later he asks about bachelor parties, there was only one of those. He asked one of the guys "so how long as you been you know (was a funny noise) with him. She says "I'm not going to say, his sister is here" the comidian goes "hey, sister, she is fucking your brother" I could not hear what any of the girls said, but I figured it out by the responses. There was a few times that the girls didnt hear the question right and gave a totally different answer to the question and that was fun to play off of. He was good, not great.

Jamie Kenidy was just ok. I dont think he was expects a interactive croud and tried to stay with his program. He talked about dating Jennifer and all the dirt she gets for dating him. He talked about sex a lot. (that with her, just making jokes about guys and girls and sex, same old stuff). Nothing really stood out for me. I laughed a few times but unless you really like him, I would not recogmend seeing him.

John and Kat were going to drive me home after so we all headed to our cars and said our byes there. We headed to my town to get icecream. They took it to go and I dont like doing that, dont see the point, so I just ended up bringing my icecream home and eating it there while talking to my father. He had told me the RedSox won, so after eating the icecream, I got caught up on the sports for the day-night.

Saturday night
The RedSox played at 4 so I listened to most of it at home but we had to go to my sister's football game. (if you didnt know, my sis is a profesional football player) They were undefeated and this was the first game of the playoffs. They would be playing a team from Dallas Texas who also were undefeated so it would be the first real test for the Boston Malicia who would beat their aponents on average by the score of 50 sometime to a touch down or less. (they had a bunch of shutouts)

My sister plays defense but some position that doesnt make plays. I have been to 6 of her games this year and only heard her name once be called. She had her little own croud there. I think there was about 12 of us.
So it was supose to be a battle like I said and they did give up the most points in this game, 14, (two touch downs) but they still blew them out of the Boston Bay putting up 34 points.
The Boston Malicia travels to DC for the championship game in two weeks. As a side note, my sister was named to the all star game in Dallas but she doesnt know if she'll even play in the game and she would have to pay her own way, so she isnt going.

Sunday
Sunday night I went to a concert with a friend-former coworker of mine who is in his mid-40's. Rob always talks about this band called REO Speed Wagon and sometime he would talk about a group called Sticks. I never heard of either of them but I got a concert update about a month ago and they were playing together so I emailed it to him. Figuring he could go with his wife or with another friend. The next day he emails me saying make your calender for June 28th. I didnt know why and he said that he got us tickets for the concert. I said, well, ok. He said I would know half the songs. I was trying to tell him that neither of them would be played on the stations I listen to. He was convinced they were big hair 80's bands like Bon Jovi. Even though they were from the 70's. He picked me up, and we headed down, stopping at a Chilly's for dinner and got to the concert about 8. An opening act was just playing the last two songs of their set. They were 38 Special. Never heard of them either. Another band from the 70's.

We had general admisions so we sat half way up the general admition section.

(description of this venue)
it is an outside plays but half is covered and lighted and the other half was not covered and had some lights pointing in the direction, but isnt overly bright and when you walk in, you walk right in between, so you either walk up to the general section or down to the covered seats.)
)

Within 2 minutes of finding seats, a woman who works there came over to us and said her superviser saw us coming in (I had my white cane) and asked if we would like to sit in the front section. There wouldnt be any stairs when you leave and nothing is in front of you.) So we sat in the front row. My friend was super excited. I was pretty excited too. In the back section there was a lot of college going on and I already spmelt it when I first got there but none could be smelt during the concert in the front. I hate drugs and dont see the point of it unless you want to just destroy your brain and all your mental and maybe physicaal abilities.

He kept saying you are going to know songs. I told him at the restaurant I would not know more than 3. He said I would know half. When Reo came out and played a hit of theirs, my friend goes "you know this one right" I replied, "nope, never heard it before." and it was the truth. I didnt know any songs all night. The guitar players were good but I thought the beat of the drum didnt go with the guitar. To me, it sounded like they were playing two different songs the entire concert but it was just their sound. At one time the band leader from sticks spoke about how they have been together for 35 years and thanking everyone for standing by them for all these years. Talking about "the good old days" Mean while I am thinking, I was born 4 years later. He went on a reminissing rant as the band just played some music. I again, was just laughing because they talked about the 70's and how much better time was back then.

After the concert we headed home, stopping at a donut shop so he could use the bathroom and I got a donut and an ice tea. He said that he had mix feelings about the way the concert made him feel. The early 70's was not a time that was particular good for him. Doing all types of drugs and his mother passing away and other things. But he is glad he got the opritunity to see them both play again but it would be the last time. I think for him it was like closing the book of a time. Now he can officially move on from that errer of his life and focus on what he has right now and what he wants. He is right now in a mid-life stage, trying to figure out what he wants to do next with his life.

The week end was a good one. I wouldnt say great, but it kept me busy.
My family is going away for our anula 4th of July vacation. My parents are already at the beach house and I will be joining them on Wednessday when my best friend and his wife and their 8 month old goes up. There will be 14 of us in a tiny beach house with only one small bathroom. You dont want to be the last to take a shower. I will tell you all about it when I get back next Sunday because there is no internet connection up there but I'm not leaving till Wednesday afternoon, so I'll be around for a few days. have a happy, healthy, and safe 4th of July and neighbors to the North, happy canada dayin a few days.

It sounds like a great weekend to me!! I'm sorry you only think of it as 'good'. There's a lot to do up there in Boston, so I guess you get used to having weekends like that. I'm glad that you had a good time.

Well, I don't necessarily feel better today but I feel alright, I guess. My eyes are scratchy and they hurt right now so that's really irritating me right now. I would much rather go home and close my eyes so that they can rest. That's all that they need anyway - rest.

Enjoy your 4th of July! A beach house sounds awesome, even if there's only one bathroom This is my favorite holiday, except for Christmas. My b-day is on the 5th so this is going to be my birthday WEEKEND! WOO hoo!
