My First Watch

03/24/2009

Meesh and I went to see Watchmen last night. We liked it. It was a decent adaptation of the Graphic Novel.

Sure, we had some quibbling points, but that was largely over the sex-scene. Meesh thought it was a little gratuitous and went on too long. I didn't see the problem with it.

Visually beautiful, Meesh felt that the music was a little heavy handed (Hey, Hey We're the '80s!, and did you know it's the '80s, by the way, STILL THE '80s!). Meesh thought the guy pulled to play Lee Iococa was channeling the guy. I didn't really see a resemblance.

I've heard some say that the acting was also kind of heavy. OK. I'll give you that some performances were a little hokey (Silk Spectre I), and some were wooden - (maybe just a little, but he was animated for pete's sake). And there was a lot of Schlong. Well, there was (not wooden, thank god).

The movie tried, as it were, to convey the best parts of the Graphic Novel, and the ending, while departing from the Novel, was perfectly fitting.

It's a good movie, and people should see it.

More over, read the Graphic Novel.

That's all.

~Ciao

I'm glad you liked it. That's one that we've been wanting to see too.

I agree. And think it was a better adaption overall than what was done with V for Vendetta. At any rate Alan Moore is the man.
