Opportunities

01/27/2011

I heard from one of my movie contacts Adam the other day. Here is the conversation -

Adam: I am the musical director for a film being shot in the next couple months. Got someone lined up, but don't know if they will follow through. Are you interested in scoring a feature film?

Me: Definitely. Couple things going on musically here but nothing urgent.

Adam: If not this one, I have a number lined up and want to keep in touch . I have a line to about five films in different genres and want to keep the talent in mind.

Me: I'm up for whatever, can compose some stuff, do scores, act, I'm down for a new project since the band here is on hiatus.

Adam: Cool. I will holler when we have auditions for the feature. This thing is going to be HUGE. Keep it under your hat, but this is going to be a big time movie. I am an insider and trying to get the best talent from this half of the state.

Me: Sounds cool. Yeah, let me know on auditions or anything you want some music for. Been a while, I'll give you a CD or 2 with what I've been up to next time I see you, and should be able to write some new music for whatever.

Adam: Awesome, I will be in touch.

If you do much work in film you will find a lot of people talk like Adam, every project is "going to be huge", and a lot of projects get talked about that never really happen. However, I've known Adam since before he got into the film world and know he isn't prone to exaggerating and only brings things up to me if they are pretty much out of the gates. So I am excited about the opportunities, taking steps to get some of those New Years resolutions on new art projects under my belt! Hope all is well with you.

RYC: Yeah, it looking that way. 3 National Acts and 6 Local acts for $10. Can't beat that with a stick, especially when one of the nationals features one of my absolute favorite female singers. Alexis is just...RAWR!!!! lol

RYC: I catch a lot of live music but not as much as I used to. I would estimate that I've seen well over 1000 shows in my life. I've played in numerous bands and we've opened for some amazing bands. I DID get to see Pink Floyd back in 1986 and there's a HILARIOUS story that goes with that. LOL

I've seen Metallica(3x), Tool(2x), and NIN(3x) but never seen MSI. Heard great things about them though. Some of my favs live are Jeff Scott Soto whom I've seen a dozen times in 4 countries. Also got to see Patti LaBelle and Luther Vandross together. I've seen both the Monsters Of Rock and Clash of The Titans tours. Also stood front row at Castle Donnington in England and seen Gary Moore absolutely leave the place in smoke and rubble. LOL

And thank you for the suggestion...I think next Monday will be EXACTLY that...great live bands that I've got to see.
