What else can I do?

10/16/2012

Been racking my brain all day trying to figure out what else I can do to make money in order to survive and pay the bills. Have tons of movies up on ebay plus some of the equipment around here that we are selling, going to load up some books and then the clothes I was going to give to goodwill, I decided to pick out some of the best ones and try to sell them instead. Garret decided that he wants to sell his old toys, so those that aren't really appropriate to keep or give away, I'm going to sell. The clothes and books may not bring in much but even a little can often help the most. After all that stuff is gone though, I don't know what else to sell, besides scarves and afghans, which I have a few scarves done and I am working on another large afghan...the next ones will deff be smaller, these big ones get heavy after a while and are hard to lug around. I really like doing the baby blanket / lap blanket sizes, so maybe I'll stick to those. I can get one done in about 3 weeks or less, but I don't know how fast they would sell, that is the problem. I thought of dual listing them on ebay and craigslist, in hopes of hitting a bigger audience, will have to see how that goes with a few trial ones. But the dilmena still remains that after all the stuff I have for sale now sells, then what do I do? I have had some serious thoughts of getting back into my home business, which I'm still listed in so all it would take would be some advertising and brushing up on my information and skills, but the only downside to that is that all my clients would be cold-call/advertising responses, so I would have very little connection with them, which wouldn't be a bad idea, but I get really shy about talking to strangers, even over the phone. With fees for school increasing, and my pell grant eligibility ending after this term, I won't be getting any overages from financial aid, so the only other source of income will be my tax return and that won't be very much at all and certainly won't last very long either.  I am hoping that I can figure something out in the next few weeks, something that I can do or make, which costs very little money for supplies or gas, etc., something that is needed or useful that people will buy, even if it is only 1-2 sales a month, every little bit will help. Now I just have to come up with the idea...

You could also try listing your afghans and scarves on Etsy, it's a great site for people to sell things they have made.

I wouldn't dual list them on eBay unless you are going for the "Buy Now" option. What happens if you sell it on Craigslist and you have an auction going? I think you get penalized if you cancel an auction. Definitely post on Etsy.

How close do you live to the city? You could advertise for home services or something: Cooking meals for an elderly person who can't do it themselves, driving them to appointments, helping them tidy their home. Stuff like that.

it is going to be part of a book thats being written - I dunno - I've done the young adult S school lesson, the book w/Pastor Cindy... I like writing because I WANT to, not because I HAVE to
