Consumerismas: The Blood

12/01/2008

Once again it is that time of year....a time that is supposed to be reserved for good will and tidings to our friends and family, but every year the "American Animal" forgets about these simple things and focuses on the must have item of the year. I am talking about the rampant mass consumerism of Christmas......Now dubbed Consumerismas.

The whole unholy shebang kicks off the day after we stuff ourselves silly celebrating the slaughter of damn near an entire race....Almost makes you wonder if the Nazi's had a thanksgiving.

The dubious day in question is referred to as "Black Friday", a day where tons of greedy and eager to please sheep herd themselves into massive shopping centers in search of that one pseudo perfect item. Forgetting all about love and spending time with the family, the American Animal seeks to show their affection by presenting shiny bauble after shiny bauble as if to say their love is measured by the amount of gifts a person receives from them.

Some of you may remember last year when I wrote Happy Holiday's? The Death of Santa Claus and may be asking why I seem to hate the holiday's so much...Well, I don't hate the holiday's I hate what we have turned them into. I shouldn't say "we" I should say YOU, the American Animal too busy to show anyone real love and caring so you do what your older loved ones did to you which is buy people. No I didn't forget a word, that is exactly what you people do. You buy and sell people, with every toy or trinket and every over indulgent purchase. What is worse is that your are corrupting your kids into thinking they HAVE to have every god damned thing they see and want, that is the driving force that caused a man to die at a Wal-Mart in Long Island. Greed and impatiences killed a man, and do you think any repercussions will come of it? Probably not.

If that isn't shocking enough...Ya know, a man having his life literally stamped out. How bout a view of the shit first hand?

Look at all the fucking livestock. Rushing into the slaughter, some pushing and shoving their way through the doors and for what exactly? What happened to the simplicity of Christmas? Where has the true meaning of Christmas gone? Do we need to start putting it's picture on milk cartons? Do we even remember what it looks and feels like?

I know that a lot of people who read this will just sluff it off as one man and his ramblings, but it isn't just me saying that things need to change drastically and quickly. There needs to be some accountability placed on these stores as well as the shoppers. There is a whole truckload of fault to be passed around at discount prices, but yet you don't see anyone lining up to get that sale.

One more thing before I leave you to your own inner workings....Aren't we supposed to be in an economic crunch? Isn't this the perfect time to reteach your kids as well as yourself about the simpler things in life? To find joy and happiness in activities that don't cost a thing. Fuck, if anything teach these little snot nosed ungrateful fucking brats the value of a dollar. Teach your kids to see you for loving parents and not just a walking ATM. That is all............for now. -Odd

"Look at all the fucking livestock. Rushing into the slaughter, some pushing and shoving their way through the doors and for what exactly? What happened to the simplicity of Christmas? Where has the true meaning of Christmas gone?" Gosh... I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing!!! No offense but those people are like ANIMALS in that second video and I can't possibly see ANY joy in throwing yourself into something like that. Sounds like pure HELL to me... People are crazy LOL!!!

Great entry. When I first heard about the man dying, I thought "I bet 3/4 of the people who were in that store when it happened, doesn't even care, or weren't shocked by it". "Oh, I'm ok still, so that's all that matters, I can still spend, spend, spend and get into even more debt" NO. I'm disgusted by it.

RYC:

Ha ha I noticed that!!! Good description

I just find it sad how Christmas has become so commercial... As well as these other holidays; like Easter People forget the TRUE meaning - and the meaning of LOVE. Presents are nice and everyone loves them. I'd be lying if I said I didn't BUT, it's as if, nowadays, people think love is just an amount of materialistic STUFF you buy - and, literally, go into a war with each other to BUY BUY BUY. It's all about MONEY

Like you said... What happened to the SIMPLICITY!?

RYC:

I agree!!!

I've been brought up with the TRUE message of Christmas -

We still exchange gifts and it's LOVELY opening presents on Christmas day

But the TRADITIONAL Christmas is so much BETTER than a materialistic "Christmas"!!!

Being able to spend the day with family &people you love and vice versa

Are you Christian?

I agree 100%.

Whenever I go on my anti-consumerism or anti-anything rants, I know there will be a multitude of people who will just roll their eyes and move along, not even bothering to read past the point where they realize I'm just going off on people and societies stupidity, selfishness, etc. Sadly, those are always the people who need to read points of view like these and will just go on being part of the problem and not the solution, so to speak.

That is just disgusting. I cant imagine anyone behaving like that, and yet there it is, real live footage. I'm shocked.

You're preaching to the Choir man. The greed of people makes me sick and ashamed to be a human.

random: I always refuse to go anywhere on Black Friday. It is absolutely ridiculous. I enjoy giving people things for Christmas to show them I love and care for them. This year, I am making all of my gifts. I am either doing drawings or knitting something. I want to give people something personal. Something I put all my love into. I am buying a few things but nothing over the top. We are programmed to spend money. That is why we are in a recession. Good entry.
