THE THINGS I CAN'T CONTROL

Drug Money

07/11/2012

I want to quit smoking. I am tired of being poor. There is NO reason I should scrape together my last few pennies every week to spend them on a pack of smokes. Oh, yeah. Addiction. That's why. Well, I'm done. I can't afford it. I know there are a billion more reasons to not smoke. But the one that depresses me the most is the cost. This is going to be hard, and I am scared. But that's what addiction does. Makes you feel needy. I am probably going to need help. To anyone that has quit, please tell me the best way. I can't even afford a patch, let alone these cigarettes. I have never been addicted to anything else in my life. Nothing makes me feel that way except cigarettes. They aren't even that good! I have recently turned to excercise to distract me, but that lasts about an hour. Hope I can do it!

The only true success I had was when my boyfriend told me he wanted me to stop. I didn't want to disappoint him. Now I'm back at it but I've heard controlling your diet, sucking on a lolly pop, chewing on a pen, exercise, learning all that goes into them and how they are made can help. I've heard of hypnotism doing the trick. Uhm... I've found for me when I dive into a great book I can go hours on end without missing cigarettes. The same thing when I crochet. I've also gone through and deep cleaned rooms in my house and not realize its been five hours since my last smoke.

Random...Get through the first three days and youve got it... Licorice helps some, hard candy, those red coffee stirrers, no joke they work, I chewed on them the first week. A real craving only lasts about 3 minutes and the rest is just mind games. When you have a craving tho k about that. If it was bad idbolt out the door and walk as fast as I could for as long as I wanted.
I've been quit since April and in November my husband is buying me the diamond I've always wanted. I will have saved 2,352. No shit. Good luck to you!

I quit smoking a few years ago, and then started back up like a dumb ass. I just decided one day that I wasn't going to smoke anymore after a certain date, and after that date I didn't for a really long time.

I heard a doctor give this advice to quit smoking to a patient one time. Calculate how much you smoke a day, and every day take those cigarettes and only smoke those. Every 3-4 days, subtract the number of cigarettes by one. As you go through this process, be sure to eliminate habitual cigarettes (The ones you have when you first wake up, eat dinner, have sex, etc) as you go along instead of when you get to the end. He said a lot of times people will quit before they get down to zero. After that, it will suck for a couple of weeks, but I remember after two weeks I had it beat. Too bad I fell off the bandwagon. :/
