I'm rather annoyed tonight. We were supposed to have family photos taken, but the photographer postponed them due to weather. It's super frustrating because it's gorgeous at my place, but apparently there was heavy rain where the photos were meant to be taken, and everything is all soaked. The shoot was rather short notice, but somehow our schedules aligned and I'm not sure when that's going to happen again. Sigh.

In much less mopey news, Josh and I are heading to Toronto to see John Mayer tomorrow. We'll drop Piper off with my parents along the way, and we're splitting a hotel with one of my best friends, and her boyfriend, who I'm excited to get to know more. They made a surprise trip up here for my birthday party, but with trying to host and mingle and all of that, I didn't get to spend as much one-on-one time with the boyfriend as I'd have liked. After quite a long time with a guy I didn't much care for (other than to look at) I'm really glad that Lauren seems to be so happy, and so well-cared for with this guy.

I'm working nights this weekend, which is trash. I'm already praying they aren't overly busy, but long weekends usually are.

I saw a plastic surgeon last month, and she approved my reconstruction! I'm so so so excited about it, but also nervous. Honestly, I was terrified that she'd reject me, tell me that it wasn't possible to do what I want done. Fortunately that anxiety was for naught, and she agrees that the type of surgery I want (DIEP flap reconstruction) is the best option for me. I was concerned that my weight would be reason to turn me away, and thankfully I was wrong, however she did ask that I lower my BMI, which is embarassing as hell to be told, but wasn't unexpected. I've been quietly but steadily working on that, and if I can lose another 3 lbs in 2 weeks, I'll have lost 20 lbs in 2 months, which I'm happy about. I see my surgeon again in December for an update, and to plan things out in more detail. Her waiting list is quite long -- the surgery takes 8+ hours, so it's not like she's banging out a bunch of them every day -- so I actually have some time to lose weight, and plan my recovery time (I'll be off work for 8ish weeks).

I think that's about all that's on my mind at the moment. Now to go cuddle up with my honey and try to catch up on the final season of Elementary. À bientôt.

Losing weight is the worst but it sounds like you’re doing a great job!

That’s exciting about the reconstruction!

Good for you on the weight loss front!!

Holy crap, an 8 hour surgery! That’s long. Will you be put out for the entire thing?
