Can there be something implemented that notifies a reader BEFORE they write a comment on an entry only to be told when sending the comment that it does not accept comments!
Coz as it stands at the moment, you can still click "Add Comment" and the comment box still comes up... you can still write in the comment box. But then it stops you. Which is bloody frustrating.

I don't know where or when, but I remember that it once said No comments accepted in place of the [add comment] link. I wonder what happened to that??

It still does, IF you are the owner of that particular blog. Like if I were to write a blog and denied comments, when viewing that entry I would see No comments accepted (or whatever), but if someone ELSE were viewing that entry, they'd still see the "add comment" link.

Not true. I've seen it before, and I've never had an entry that didn't accept comments.
I think it depends on the browser.

It must depend on the diarist then, because I've seen it in all three of the browsers I've used....FF, IE, and Opera.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it on other people's diaries.

I think it may have been dependent on whether you set the specific entry itself to not accept comments (a one-off thing), or if you had it set in Manage My Diary as an entry default (so none of your entries could accept comments). I think the latter was when it said no comments accepted. Man I should test this stuff out. xD

I know when it comes to my "no comment" entries. I set it that way when I'm writing the entry, and when *I* view the entry it says that no comments are allowed, but when my readers see it, it has the link for comments. But I know that not all of my readers use the same browser.

I was about to say.
I've seen comment-disabled entries, and attempted to go to the diary and comment, which didn't work, but the converse feature did.
