Im deaf, i know theres ONE other person thats deaf here... im just curious HOW many deaf people are on this site! :-)

I have a hole in my left ear drum, been operated on a few times, every time they fix it, i get infections and the hole comes back, leaving me deaf in one ear. I also talk funny bec if this, and words sound funny to me, which is why i probably dont spell very well, ....teehee well that's my excuse anyway :D


it;s a very frustrating way to live, having to make people repeat themselves to me, no one like to do that, i understand.....and also i misunderstand what people say i just cant hear them good enough, and well... you know it really sucks, people well tell me shit, i dont hear them, they think i did hear them bec i looked at them or something, and they get pissed at me bec i didnt do what i didnt hear grrrr frustrationg. I love music, and talk radio, and i play the guitar, so of course my whole entire life as been nothing but one giant HETY CAN YOU TURN THAT DOWN! and i'm lie fuck, i can barely hear it asshole! ;D

lol i know what u mean, i often have to ask to repeat esp the fact i couldnt understand a guy with a big ol beard, or something WROST if they start to WALK away im like umm ur walking away fromme again i cant understand u! lol

i love music too thats one of my problems -- i crank up my car radio! but i turn it off when im driving through my place so my neighbors doesnt complain

yeah big beards are the worst. they should make all guys that have beards wear lipstick, that would be so much easier to read their lips ;D

ps i do hear in my right ear, but it's only like something at 75% which isn't to bad, just not real good

Lol yeah tell me abt it wrost if I try 2 watch their lips they got a booger on the musache or something on the beard I can't tell em that and its gross! Lol

and for the tv have u thought of close caption? cc

when it first came out I thought it was the greatest technology in the world, and it is really, but... it's also very distracting, so i dont really like it that much. luckily i dont like TV at all much anyway, only boxing and mma, and some judge Judy of course, gawd i love her.

lol yeah it took some of my boyfriends when i had em at the time to get used to it but luckly the guy im engaged to doesnt even care anymore lol, he forgets to turn em off before he records something on dvd, and it has cc permantly and i think it bugs his friends ha ha

IT JUST SOUNDS LIKE THE CONSONANTS ARE A LITTLE BIT WEAK AND FUZZY - WHICH I GUESS IS HOW YOU HEAR THEM IF YOUR HEARING ISN'T VERY CLEAR. BUT LOTS OF PEOPLE TALK LIKE THAT ANYWAY, LIKE IF THEY ARE MUTTERING OR TIRED OR BEING LAZY. YOU SAY 'PLOSE' FOR 'CLOSE' THOUGH. BUT YOU CAN TOTALLY SAY YOUR 'K' SOUND IN OTHER WORDS, SO I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT HAPPENED. AND YOU SAY 'LIVING' WITH A 'TH' AT THE END. I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING - DO YOU DO A LOT OF LIP-READING FOR UNDERSTANDING OTHERS? BECAUSE K'S AND NG'S HAPPEN AT THE BACK OF THE TONGUE, SO YOU CAN'T SEE THEM IN THE WAY THAT YOU CAN SEE P'S AND B'S, FOR INSTANCE.

ty. yeah it's not to noticeable. not bad at all. just somethings i pronounce funny, and yes it helps to watch lips, but for me it's not really necessary if one speaks clearly, unlike me,lol

I'm actually deaf in my right ear! I can hear really well in my left though. So I'm sure that doesn't fully count but I thought I'd share it anyway lol.

There was a 20 something year old blind male on here years ago, I remember when I was younger [maybe 16] I didn't know how he could be blind and use a computer, now I feel so bad.

They have special computers they can use; a friend of mine is completely blind and he can get on the internet. It's really nifty, his laptop. ^__^

Does it have special features, have you ever tried it curiously with your eyes closed?

I'm not sure; I was always working when I saw him using it so I'm not quite sure how it works. I'm sure that it talks to him and the keyboard itself had braille on it.

YES, YO - HE IS STILL HERE. HE USES A COMPUTER THAT TALKS TO HIM. I WAS JUST TELLING AMBER ABOUT THAT, IN FACT. SHE WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE NOT KNOWING HOW SHE CAN USE THE PHONE WHEN SHE IS DEAF.

I had a friend when I was younger, I believe their phone had some sort of light so you knew when it was ringing, but I don't know how you communicate?
