Dominick Corvasis went to sleep under a light wool blanket and a crisp white sheet, sprawled alone in his bed, but he woke elsewhere-in the darkness at the back of the large foyer closet, behind concealing coats and jackets.

Strangers by Dean Koontz.

It's a re-read of course, but I love it. ;D

"They say that the prospect of being hanged in the morning concentrates a man's mind wonderfully; unfortunately, what the mind inevitably concentrates on is that, in the morning, it will be in a body that is going to be hanged." Going Postal by Terry Pratchett

"Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun." So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish by Douglas Adams

(I've been jumping between these two books when I don't want to lug this huge compilation of Douglas Adams stories around...)

Abandon all hope ye who enter here is scrawled in blood red lettering on the side of the Chemical Bank near the corner of Eleventh and First and is in print large enough to be seen from the backseat of the cab as it lurches forward in the traffic leaving Wall Street and just as Timothy Price notices the words a bus pulls up, the advertisement for Les Misèrables on its side blocking his view, but Price who is with Pierce & Pierce and twenty-six doesn't seem to care because he tells the driver he will give him five dollars to turn up the radio, "Be My Baby" on WYNN, and the driver, black, not American, does so.

I'm going to leave this one a mystery, but most people can guess and/or figure it out...

It's really good. I'm totally addicted. The tv show is good too, but it doesn't really follow the book very much.

On a very hot day in August of 1994, my wife told me she was going down to the Derry Rite Aid to pick up a refill on her sinus medicine prescription--- this is stuff you can buy over the counter these days, I believe.
