I work at a coffee shop and we have a 5-disc changer that we use here. We honestly have about 10 CDs that we switch through, meaning it makes for a really long shift listening to the same 5 artists all day. Everyone here is getting sick of the music we have, so I was wondering if you all have any suggestions of artists that would be good to play at a coffee shop.
(Right now we have like, John Mayer, Boston, Joel Plaskett, Jann Arden, Norah Jones, She & Him, etc.)

Thanks in advance!

Check out an artist named Sista Otis. She's amazing. Sort of a cross between Melissa Etheridge and janis Joplin...

Jack Johnson, Daniel Wesley, Dispatch, Throwback are all equally great for the coffee shop atmosphere. Well, in my opinion anyway.

I have a couple. Matt Nathanson, Mat Kearney, and Ingrid Michaelson. Those are artists I'd associate with coffee shops.

At a coffee shop, I like more mellow stuff, acoustic stuff....

Like Jason Mraz (I LOVE "I'm Yours"), Tracy Chapman, The Moldy Peaches (their music was on Juno).

Also, the Beatles are a classic that never get old. Although playing them may start a sing-along...

We sometimes play the Beatles, but you cannot listen to them all day, it does get old. xD (Like after an 8 hour shift, 8 hours of Beatles :|)

Like, sometimes we put our iPods on and we've had Beatles playing all day. We've had Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.. etc. aha

the pete yorn and scarlett johannsen album is great. And really mellow. I think the Postal service and Band of Horses would also be good at a coffee shop.
