10. All lesbians have penis envy; they just want to be men.

No, we donít. We are women who like to be with women. Who said anything about men? So guys have dicks, so what? Itís not like I canít walk six blocks and buy a dick of my own. Plus, I donít have to worry about being too small, coming too early, or getting it up. If anything, men want to be lesbians.

9. I am totally cool with lesbians, I just think two guys fucking is gross.

Do you really think that makes us feel good to hear that? While many lesbians might also be less than excited about fucking men, we are still a part of the gay community. We donít care about your approval, and you are not any less homophobic just because you get hot about the idea of two chicks going at it. You know what I think is gross? Your impudence and stupidity.

8. Youíre too pretty and feminine to be a lesbian.

If you think all lesbians are big olí dykes with crew cuts, flannel shirts, and combat boots, then you have obviously had your eyes closed for pretty much your whole life. If you think all lesbians are ugly women who just canít get a man, then you are an idiot. Lesbians come in all types, shapes, hairstyles, clothing, sizes, hot and not, fat and skinny, girly and not so girly. Donít say stupid things like thatówomen are never too pretty and feminine to be lesbians Ö I bet you a hundred bucks my girlfriend is hotter than yours.

7. How do you have sex without a man?

Very easily actually. If guys didnít have penises, I am sure they would find something to do in bed with a woman. Contrary to assumptions made during the Victorian era, women can and do have sex without men all the timeóand very well I might add.

6. Why do you have to flaunt your sexuality and shove it in our faces?

Every day of my life, I see heterosexual people holding hands, kissing each other, and wearing their heterosexual clothes. I see advertisements and movies; I watch TV shows and read magazines; everything I see celebrates and flaunts the lives and loves of heterosexuals. If anything, you shove your sexuality in my face all the time. If I hold hands with my girlfriend, I am not shoving anything into your face; I am just holding hands with my girlfriend. Not everything is about you.

5. Lesbians canít raise kids, especially boys. Children need a mom and a dad.

Are you living in the 1950s? At least half of you reading this have divorced parents and of that group, nearly 80 percent of you lived with your mom after the divorce. Are you saying that you are screwed up because you only lived with your mom? Kids need love and security, and besides, all studies have shown that children raised by gay parents are no different from those who grow up in heterosexual households Ö so shut up.

4. Are you hitting on me?

Ummm Ö probably not. This may come as a surprise to you, but not all gay people want you. Do you want every heterosexual person you see? Donít you have taste? Discernment? Get over yourselfóyouíre not that hot.

3. Hello sir (or dude, or bro, or son Ö)

Do you have eyes? Can you not see that I have breasts? Just because I have short hair and wear menís clothes does not mean that I am a guy, that I want to be a guy, or that I hate guys. Itís just hair and clothesóget over it.

2. Being a lesbian isnít biological, itís a choice.

Do you have a choice about who you are attracted to? If things were reversed, could you be convinced to become gay just because the majority of people are? The only choice we have is whether we want to be true to ourselves or not. End of story.

1. Can I watch?

No! And please stop asking. Life is not a porno movie. Would you want some dude watching you? I donít think so.

i'm heterosexual, but supportive of all lifestyles. the debate that came of this on the page i found it on was pretty insane, so i thought i'd see what bloop thinks ^-^

That's the only thing I have a problem with. What are heterosexual clothes?

"How do you have sex without a man?" - Do people really ask that? Gosh... Sex is not just vaginal intercourse, but apparently a lot of people don't realize that.

This was a great list, though!
As for "Hello sir" -- I know a couple people who think that, in a lesbian relationship, there must be one that's "the man". I don't get that.

yes, exactly lol.. the point is that there ISN'T a man. :P.

my friend alaihasha thinks it's HILARIOUS when people think she's a man and i'm pretty sure she tells people she is sometimes just to see if they believe her :P, but i can see how it would be REALLY offensive to some people.

Oh my gosh! Similar but different situation -- There was a trans-guy in my German class in college ("female" body transitioning to male). He introduced himself as "Alan"... yet the teacher constantly referred to him as "Ellen" and claimed he was a female, goes as far to correct me when I used a masculine pronoun for him during an exercise... and after class I checked with him to make sure that I hadn't assumed wrong.

I've gotten called "sir" a couple times, but only when I had my short hair (a lot shorter than now) and people didn't notice the boobs - which are kinda hard not to notice.

#9 is the one thats bugs me ALL the time. I think there isn't one guy out of all my friends that I haven't asked their opinion about that. ALL my guy friends say it's okay to be a lesbian, but guys being gay is just wrong (their words not mine!) I'm heterosexual, but I don't think guys should say its ok to be one but not the other. Sure - it might make them uncomfortable, I'll accept that answer, but you can't says its okay for one specific group of people (women) but not okay for the other group of people (men).

i think maybe men say that stuff bc they're scared that saying they're okay with two guys would threaten their own masculinity. :/.

If a girl is dressed like a guy, has a guy's haircut, and carries herself in a masculine manner, why shouldn't/wouldn't someone think she's a guy??? Most of the girls I've seen who fit that category don't have visible curves because male clothing isn't tailored to show off a female's body. If I see a girl who looks like a guy, my first reaction is to address her as one -- it's not to offend her or make fun of her, it's because I honestly thought she was a guy (which is probably the case for most people), and if she has a problem with that, she can correct me and I'll apologize for it.

#3 is the only one that struck a nerve with me, too. I agree with the list completely, but I don't think this one is something that someone can be offended by if they are clearly displaying themselves as the other gender (I mean it's one thing if it's just an obvious female with short hair being called 'dude', that's just lack of observation!). Like you said, correct me and I'll apologize and refer to you by whatever you'd like. One time at my old job I was helping a customer pick out perfume and makeup....they were wearing large girly sunglasses and a tank top (no visible breasts, but I wasn't exactly paying attention to that right off the bat) and female jeans, when I refereed to them as "ma'am", their friend quickly corrected me (but discretely, by saying something like, "oh ring this one up with HIS items"). I don't give a rats ass if he wants to go by him, her, it, this, that, whatever, makes no difference to me...but don't strike an attitude because I guessed wrong! Until we live in a more gender neutral society, people are going to assume that someone is whatever gender they are most obviously displaying.

All such bullshit.

And as a smouldering homosexual, I can say that #10 for us translates into "Gay men just wanna be women", not to mention the whole shit about each relationship needing to follow traditional "gender roles" (I.E, who's the man in the relationship and who's the woman?)

Ugh. Conventional middle America is so conventional.

my mom worked with a bunch of men who were gay and i LOVED them.. the most fun i ever had was going to walmart with jon because for the most part, he didn't care what anyone thought. but that one honestly did make him mad. he'd say, "no, i like being a gay man much more than i'd like being a straight woman."

i LOVED her reply to number four. i hate when people assume that just because someone is gay, they're attracted to ALL men, or just because they're lesbian, they're attracted to ALL women. it's just ignorant.

Yes! We had an argument in a high school class about Don't Ask Don't Tell. A guy said: "Well, I don't want gays in the military because they might hit on me and get distracted on the battlefield."
And my teacher's response was perfect: "And what makes you think that they'd even be attracted to you in the first place?"

All lesbians have penis envy; they just want to be men.

I love this one. I laugh, then squeeze my boobs & say "nope i love me some tatas"

I am totally cool with lesbians, I just think two guys fucking is gross.
i've been known to get in a heated debate about this with many people....fucking hypocrites.

8. Youíre too pretty and feminine to be a lesbian.

oh my lord, i used to get this all the time! Now people just assume i'm a lesbian because of my dreads, which i find even more amusing.
How do you have sex without a man?

"we have a nice collection of vibrators & other toys, three strong fingers, a wicked tongue and A LOT of practice..."

Why do you have to flaunt your sexuality and shove it in our faces?

i love it when people mistake affection for flaunting my sexuality. if i want to talk about my wife, you better bet you ass i will & if i want to go to pride, i'll do that too.

Lesbians canít raise kids, especially boys. Children need a mom and a dad.
this i don't get much, but when i tell people we're considering donors i hate it when they assume one of us is going to be having intercourse with the donor...

Are you hitting on me?

this makes me laugh too. and if i'm feeling extra douchy i may just do it to make them uncomfortable.

2. Being a lesbian isnít biological, itís a choice.
ohh totally.
we all just wake up one day & say to ourselves "let's go to the mall, get some starbucks & become a big flaming homosexual!!!11111one!!!"
yep, thats exactly how it happens.
/rolls eyes.

Can I watch?

i cannot count the amount of times i hear this in a week, especially in situations where i'm coming out to a larger group of people i've never known before.
SO.FUCKING.ANNOYING!
