Alright, this is my last reply but I did think it would be good to mention that for my entire life I haven't had health care. My father was self-employed and I do not pay for health care myself. I do not want to, it is not an expense I am prepared to pay. Therefore, I do not think I should pay for others, either. My work place DOES provide an option for health insurance, but I do not pay for it. I do not want it. Also, anytime I have a medical issue, I pay out of pocket so don't think that I have others pay for mine, when I am not willing to pay for my own. Also it's not "provided for by the government" it's provided by tax payers.

Its not only about people not being able to get private health care, its about the health care laws as they are currently. Health insurance can deny you because of how you were born. My brother gets denied because no doctor can say what date his "condition" started. It is a disease he was born with. If the government picks up health care and changes the current laws, then private insurances are forced to lower their prices. Just because you arent going to use it doesnt mean it shouldnt be paid for. People dont use public schools, but they still have to pay for it out of their taxes. There is no difference between that and between healthcare. But of course because YOU dont want to use it means people who need it shouldnt be able to use it either.

I've asked you this before... but what do you plan to do if you develop asthma? Or diabetes? Or get appendicitis? Or get hit by a car? Do you have the money to pay for treatment? These things can cost thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars to treat (particularly chronic conditions like asthma or diabetes). Or will you say "no thanks. I'm OK with dying"?

I'm genuinely curious, because I'm trying to understand the mentality here. Are you really OK with dying unnecessarily? Or do you just hope it won't ever happen to you?

And blatently anything provided for by the government is provided by tax payers. I think everyone is quite aware of that.

I've HAD serious issues before and I make payments on them. If something MORE serious were to come up I would deal with it as it comes and I would not ask my neighbor to pay for it. Again, we will never agree... ever. Seriously, last post. I will not respond to anything else, it's getting old. I'm tired of defending my position only to be told my reasons are inadequate for whatever reason.

I haven't told you your reasons are inadequate. I've asked perfectly legitimate questions. Which you've still failed to answer. However from what you said above I assume it IS the case that if you ended up in a situation where you needed thousands of dollars you didn't have for medical treatment you would be OK with the dying option. From your "deal with it as it comes" comment anyway.
